Step in line to slap the newbie

Howdy guys... Found this site a couple weeks ago, but finally decided I wanted to register... I have to admit, I'm vastly impressed with what the gang here has done...
So I spent most of the past couple weeks reading the forums, watching some videos, and of course, reading the FAQ... I'm a web developer, but I'm not a C/C++/C# programmer; nor am I a GUI developer, and my map creation skills suck, so when that is needed I won't be able to contribute either. So I guess I'm just a fan, giving thoughts when I can; and of course, praising the team.
[strike]However, I do have a question: Your FAQ says there is no Skirmish mode planned - does this mean no computer AI? If not, is it intended to be a solely multi-player game....?
Feel free to punt me if I missed something in my searches.[/strike] -
Answer found - sorry!

No official AI. Atlantai Firestar and I are currently involved in making the command and control structure for an AI.

Refer t the following threads:
SSAI tidbit
TAI parts 1,2,3 and anythign else similair
5 matrix AI
and anythign else with AI but they're the main ones.
Please suggest things and poke holes in what we've said and add to them or develop your own thoughts and proposals, the more the better.

... slap the newbie
I can start by saying that this should have been posted in the "Off topic discussion" forum.

by Shade
No, it shouldn't, because originally I had questions directly related to the project.
Thanks.

if he's getting a slap, i want one too!
wouldn't want to annoy anyone on my first message, so here's something TA Spring related:
been following avidly for a few weeks, think you guys are doing a really great job... in my house there are 3 or 4 of us that play TA, and we're just loving that new long video... its great..
i'm capable of doing some graphics if needed, but you guys look like you know what you are doing.
we wondered if using the land deformation could be used to create a moat around your base?

by AF
Yah but you must be aware that by doing so you cant raise th ground to get rid fo the moat again as there's no land creation other than a rim around the moat of raised ground. But in TA you 'll be wanting to expand and people are likely to forget essential TA tactics as soon as they get Spring and be awed by the graphics, making a lock camera +TA UI essential which I think is already implemented

Hey you negative person, don't say that

. I've been around since the first post, and the SY never post much. They do read, though: quite a few times I found that they had silently implemented an idea I or some other poster suggested. Actually by posting useless complaints like this one and triggering answers like mine, you waste their precious reading time.

Actually half my post count has been composed of deleted silenced and quashed threads that never made it to the light of day, most made during ym tirade against the forums earleir on.
The SY's dont make a habit of posting but they listen and they listen well.

Riker I hearby charge you with crimes against reading, trial will follow shortly in offtopic forum

id assume the reason the other SYs dont post is cause they have to deal with people like you. we talk all the time about the features discussed here, and the ideas get taken into account. would you prefer us to spend all our time responding to everyone's posts, or doing YOU a favor and coding up the wondefulness that is Spring?

God why is it that nobody takes the time to understand these days?!
Anyways community contributions of thoughts and ideas to Skirmish development seems to have become a '2 man band'. And considering me and Triaxx2 are devloping alogn our own proposals we can say its a 1 man band each. Help help! someone give an idea ieven fi its onyl 5 words long and seems insignificant! We dont need yu to create an entire AI thought up and post your proposals and code and examples though ti would be welcomed just a line with maybe pseudo code of a single facet or something.

I'll get to it at some point... but I have to admit these AI threads are the only ones I have a hard time reading without getting a headache!
