Does it lag?
What is the interface like?
And most of all, can it go to about .15 between clips?

Low resource, it can do practically any timing you want. The interface is a bit painful...

Then stop. Stop now. The only other one free I've found that's as easy as Vdub is called MediaCoder; I'm too lazy to fetch a link.

o.0, Easy,

I catch on twice as fast as an "average" person, it won't be a sweat
Edit: This will be a timelineish/fighting kinda thing, it will focus on robots mashing the shit out of each other in a fighting ring, expect cool effects, like ahhh, I won't release anything else....
Don't need to spoil how cool I'm gunna make it, go to the topic New Mod for more info on the storyline

if you find out whats the best codec to use with the spring-moviecapture thing, please tell me. I always end up with supermegalag and 10GB files :/
Windows Movie Maker 2 is free and very easy to use if you have no previous experience.
There is also Camtasia Studio which is shareware, but the older versions might be free (?)

Ooooookay, anyway to get that sandy effect from 1995/98 games on a picture? I remember Robo Rumble had some badass graphics like that...

DivX5 works nicely for me. Bit jerky when first played, but that clears up fast.
