Final Frontier?

Is anybody pursuing porting this excellent mod to Spring? I personally loved it, and after playing around a bit with my own 3d space warfare mod I think it'd be great-fuckin'-fun on the Spring engine.

If someone infact is doing it, and needs help, I'd be more than happy to throw in whatever work I can.

If not, can anyone point me to the latest OTA release of FF? Spanks.

In the eyes of a number of players, Optimus Failed. If you can restore Final Frontier to the glory that Savant made for it in OTA, then the people would rejoice and love you for your labors.

That was rather tactful.

The FF thread was closed for cleansing, and Deci never seemed to get around to it. PM Optimus and see what he is up to. He might like some help if you approach him in the right mood. Actually, I'm praying he accepts some support or help.

Try mod, then form opinion. I happen to think Opty's FF was 70% more playable than OTA FF, and with weighting, that adds up to 80% better.

Dont talk to me about tactful some people are not satisfied with the current iteration of FF..

it became a flame war because optimus doesn't listen to his fabase. Because optimus turned the mod into garbage. That plays like old people f.........

The weighting of unit type damage was just bollocks. It made it impossible to use anything else to counter certain types of units, and the ODS rush reigns supreme.

Which is, again, complete bollocks. Maybe if you rolled everything back to the way it was for 7.4 of OTA, we could start over and get it RIGHT when converting to Spring.

Bah, the entire game is commrushing and teching. Don't even try to attack with the first two levels.

I rushed min3mat with 20 fighters once, the comm killed a few, but i managed to close all his solars, leaving him wide open.

Unfortunately, battleship hunters suck so much against everything except battleships, i had to sit there, not able to kill anything in his base until he built fighters.

yeah but use the t1 ones lol the t2 ones aren't half as cost effective. FF may be imba to teh m4xz0r5 but its still pretty good fun every now and then.
different gameplay is fun even if its not good all the time.

its really funny to see people discussing things, they dont know and sure never will know.
I will not go more into detail because i m happy if these people stay far away from FF.
The only thing i will say is that all these problems you are talking about (commrushing, ods rush, fighter rush, ...) shows me, that you

a) have never read the manual and so you think this is AA in space,
b) you are unable to learn differnt games
c) you lost too much against good players which used only one or two different units cause they saw that these were the optimal units vs your units and you think now these units are uber
d) you dont like it the uncommon way and will stay at AA your whole life

but like i said, just stay away from it (i will not discuss anymore and hope you wont so too).

Optimus Prime wrote: a) have never read the manual and so you think this is AA in space,
funny because I have not played aa since 1.35
Optimus Prime wrote:b) you are unable to learn differnt games
like the fact that I play EE, Gundam, OTA and OLD FF?
Optimus Prime wrote:c) you lost too much against good players which used only one or two different units cause they saw that these were the optimal units vs your units and you think now these units are uber
Now that is just sad, we hate it because we suck? wake up, many of the people telling you FF blows are some of the best players here... IN MANY GAMES!
Optimus Prime wrote:d) you dont like it the uncommon way and will stay at AA your whole life
I don't play AA... as far as the uncommon way... yeah, slow playing and badly balanced. It is like having someone give me sleeping pills then having me spar!
Optimus Prime wrote:but like i said, just stay away from it (i will not discuss anymore and hope you wont so too).
I will until that hard head of yours starts letting other thoughts in outside of your own in.
