MAssive lag on 17mb connection

Hey guys, (and gals, if any)
I got this problem. I got a 17mbps connection, 1mbps up, well that's not the the problem
The problem is when i host it starts laggin immensley, mind you not all the time. Like i live in australia, and when i play with my friend who lives in the same city, there is no problem. When i play with my brother in the other room over the net, still no problem (+ my friend). Sometimes even on the net when playing with 1 person from the US it's ok. But when there are 2 people it ussually starts lagging. Like the ping SKY ROCKETS to like 50000 and over.
I have scanned my pc with everyhting, (adaware, win defender, norton) founnd some registry entries, and that's all. Didnt help.
Mind you when i just got spring, version before this one. I could host and download stuff, and watch online streaming tv on winamp.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Voz

Perhaps your ISP may be able to shed some light on this?

you do read the post before replying, do you? :)
oh and sorry, but i can't help. you might want to check some of the online speedtest sites though. perhaps they can tell whether you are reaching the speed your ISP tells you at all.

Perhaps the ISP is throttling off-continent connections...

lag can be caused by insufficient processor speed or video card prowess... what's you PC specs?

BaCaMe - ???
Speed test - no the quoted speed is the actuall speed i get, the isp says it's a 24mb plan
Isp throttling offshore connections? hm... will find out, thanks.
Specs:
p4 630 3.0ghz 2mb chache
1 gig corsair ram
geforce 6600gt 128mb, ddr3
yeah somehow i don't think its my system...
Thanks for all the replies, will continue to search for answers.

Like the ping SKY ROCKETS to like 50000 and over.
Does the ping go up immeadiatly or somewhen later ingame? I experienced this error too, but only few times.

Are you playing with bots in the game as well?
The only time I get lag with Spring, is when I use bots. Not sure of the AI's are unoptimized or what, but it's a similar issue. My "ping" will skyrocket to 20-30,000 or more, and I'll get slapped with delayed-synch issues.
This happens both online and offline.
If you're not using AI's, I'm not sure what could be causing the problem.

I'd say that has to do with the cross-continent connection, myself.

Try the latest version of NTAI... I remeber AF whining that his was the only one that didn't have massive memory leaks.

If I play AA or XTA with NTai, all is fine. Most other mods end up having lag at some point. Quite odd, really.

Ignore Vassagos comment on NTai untill he produces XE9RC19 logfiles.
If you cant prove it, it never happened.

Are you happy now?
That match went on for <5 minutes (at which point I aborted it), at 2:38 the Global AI started causing extreme peaks with the CPU time counter increasing by ~60s per frame during these peaks.

untrue. I ran 8 KAI at 7.5x speed with little lag, and can run NTAI well (havent seen how many, just played it)... AAI's too old... submarine has to release .7 soon!

Run CvC 0.01, there are issues with the original version that KDR reports have ceased to exist with the newer version.

The crashes, yes. But he's complaining about the lag spikes.
