NVidia 91.31 Drivers + Slowdowns

I'm having severe slowdowns with the new NVidia 91.31 drivers.
In comparison to the "old" 84.25 drivers i'm loosing about 80% of the total framerate. For example on "3 Bridges" when zoomed out i get a maximum of 20 fps where i got about 100 with the 84.25 drivers before.
I already told SJ about the it but he couldn't find a problem so far.
What i tried doing already:
- Uninstall, use Drivercleaner to get all remaining files and reinstall 91.31: Didn't work
- Reset all program settings and delete all registry entries of TASpring: Didn't work
- Tune down all settings for TASpring to a minimum: Nope, didn't work.
- Reinstall 84.25 Drivers: Yup, works but that's just a workaround.
So.. anyone else with this Problem? Here are my System specs btw:
AMD X2 4400+
2 GB Corsair RAM
Asus A8N32-SLI (nForce 4 2x16 Chipset)
Gainward 7800GTX 256MB GoldenSample
Windows XP SP2. Most recent DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

did you turn off vsync? Strange enough installing the enwer driver set may ahve turne dit back on........
As always fiddle the values in the graphics setup pages.
I have the 91.31 drivers and I dont notice such a huge slowdown.
Try the other drivers such as omega or starburst

Check the driver panel. These new drivers have a lot of settings for SLI and such, which might be casuing some slowdown if left default. Also try running without antialising enabled, and turn anisotropic filtering to 4x max.
I have a worse system than yours, and I'm getting great framerates with the new drivers.
Athlon64 3500+ (o/c 2.35ghz)
2GB Corsair ULL DDR
ASUS A8V Deluxe
GeForce 6800GT (o/c 420/1150)
WinXP Pro SP2
*edit* unless you're benchmarking you WANT to keep VSync enabled. Otherwise fast movements make the screen 'tear' - it's an awful visual

That's not the issue anyways, since my machine pales in comparison, and I get 60+fps at all times (unless dynamic water is enabled).

I already tried turning down and off everything i could. it made it look like complete crap but it still had crappy FPS. VSYNC/AA/AF/whatever are turned off of course.

I get around 50->10 with these drivers depending on how far ingame I am.
btw anistropic filtering slows down stuff vassago, it's likely to reduce his framerates not increase them

I think its a problem with 7800 GTXes tbh. I have the exact same problem, i had 12 fps as a medium. then i downgraded, and im on 80. must be 7800 GTXes. Cabbage has the same gfxcard, and the same problem.

i doubt it's just a problem with a specific piece of hardware.
once i go back to the old drivers everything is running fine again.
i guess nvidia simply changed something that the spring devs aren't aware of yet.
could everyone that's running the 91.31 drivers AND has a 7800GTX 256MB PCI-E Card please post in here whether they have the same problem or not?
i already heard from someone that has a 7800GS AGP that's working perfectly.

Bump
Still no word from the "officials"?
It's still unplayable with those slowdowns. I'd really like to play a game or two again :/

I've got 7800GTX, when i installed the new drivers it absolutely decimated my frmerate, down to single figures at some points. Before hand it was 70+ FPS average, in some cases zooming right up to the 200 mark. I tried everything i could think of to remedy hte problem but nothing helped, even in low resolution/ gfx settings.
In the end i went back to the 84.xx driver, works fine again. It's a shame though, the newer drivers worked wonders with oblivion and source games.

I installe and got a slowdown, btu then went back to old drivers and got a horrible glitchy flashy bug.
So I compeltely erased all traces fo nvidia, uninstallign all nvidia drivers then following total remvoal guides.
Then I re-installed the v85 drivers and now I get flawless games now with 70 fps at start on a geforce fx 5200 ultra

A friend of mine had exactly the same problem and he has 7800GT I think. Will try to get him to post details here to see if it's the same problem...

The problem is solved.
All i did was completely wipe the HD and cleanly reinstall everything. Guess even DriverCleaner sometimes can't delete everything to provide a clean install. i'm now back to above 250-300 fps in most situations. plenty of room for action.

Umm...So can ATI?

ATI cards cant handle maps on 32x32+ maps because of the size of the shadow map. ATI cards cant handle them when they axceed 2048x2048 but nvidia cards support bigger sizes so a nvidia card is a must if you want shadows on a 40x40.
otherwise you'll need to wait for the DX10 ATI cards

OT: okay guys please stop that fanboy shit.
i was cheering too early. the problem still persists but i had most of the settings turned down.
it seems like the shadow and the shiny unit options both eat hundreds of FPS on the 91.31 drivers. i don't know why it's like this but i just tested it.
Settings:
MoonQ20
with Shadows and Reflective Units on then "Tabbed" to the new overview mode = 9-10 FPS
MoonQ20
without Shadows and Reflective Units then "Tabbed" to the new overview mode = 103-104 FPS
Nearly the same with Small Supreme Battlefield.
