The post here has been deleted because the original issue I had is moot now. There were also large screen-stretching images that outlived their usefulness.
The current state of the map Sanctuary can be found a couple posts down from here.

Fiz that is fine. Caydr for some unknown reason has all the buildings in AA with a slope tolerance of 10. Every other mod has it at 20. Load it up with EE and select a GD or URC factory and take a look with that.
THat may open up your eyes and other people too. It's a stupid thing for AA to have 10. It makes things really hard to place.

I agree with forboding, you're heightmap looks fine, and even in AA, the amount of restictive building space will actually bring in a lot of new ideas for how to navigate uneven terrain. I'm thinking what you have here is an excellent start for what could be a fun guerrila warfare style map.

I've made progress! In fact, Sanctuary ('tis the name of my map) is now playable!
This is a 32x32 archipelago map where you must have mastery of land, sea, and air if you wish to conquer your opponents. I've uploaded the map to yousendit.com, because it isn't completed yet, and I do not wish to waste any of the bandwidth provided generously by FileUniverse until I've finished working on the map
A Newer Version is available, go to the next post
Now I must add a little caveat: The map is ready to play on, as in the terrain is done, and metal distribution has been defined, but the texture is... still a work in progress. I shall let the pictures do the talking:
Fear not, for when I finish Sanctuary, it shall look more like this:

Stage Two completed.
Sanctuary now has a low-resolution skin (it was rendered @ 1/4 size and then blown up, to be precise), proper trees, grass, geothermal vents, ground types, etc.
Download Here (12 megabytes)
Some pictures are shown below:
Stage Three will be getting the full-sized texture rendered (along with some Terragen layer/color tweaking). It's gonna take what will feel like forever when I hit the "render" button. I'm not looking forward to it. At that point, I'll also ask for this thread to be moved to the User Map Discussion section.

hey that looks really neat. Little bit neater than the grid ;p
Can't wait to see the full rendered texture, that will look cool
