Spring RTS Engine

There has been much discussion about spell checking and many people asked for someone to point out any tool that spell checks that is not paid, like the Ms-Office suit.

Here are the options i found:
In Ms-Windows -> Mozilla/Mozilla-Firefox. They have an extension (which i haven't tested myself) that "Looks up a user selected word in an online dictionary".

Outside windows -> I have recently installed Suse Linux 9.2 64-bit in my laptop. The operating system itself allowed me to install several spell checkers. I'm using one right now and it is helping me a lot with simple mistakes or words hard to remember how to write.
I have Mozilla, Mozilla-Firefox and Konqueror all working with the dictionaries as well as other programs.
Also, i installed dictionary libraries for USA-English, British-English (the one i'm using), Portuguese (standard and not brasilian) and Esperanto.

All of these are free-from-pay options including the whole Suse Linux 9.2 which you can download freely (not sure though if it has everything the payed version has...).

Ho, and before flamming me for some mistake you find in my posts for the future, consider that i'm still using Windows (most needed for playing most big games) and many times i surf the forums when i'm at the programming course where we're using Windows+Ms-Visual Studio...

In this forum there is someone with an incredibly lax spelling. Because of him, somehow, they managed to integrate a spell check button in the "post a reply" forms. Ok, I don't exactly know where they got that plugin, and I think the Swedish Yankspanker have far more importnat things to do, but it shows that it's possible on a phpBB forum.

hhmmm that forum link doesnt work zwzsg (the latter one) well I'm downlaodign that extension now and hopefully I can flame with 100% accurate grammar and spellings!

! I know howto spell its just there are so many spelling mistakes it takes me ages to go through and correct and then correct the corrections. That extension doesnt correct my spellings at all its just a dictionary!

Ok, I guess search request ID have a limitation period. It was a page listing all icarus post on Moonpod board, just click on his name, then "all post by user", then page 53, to get the same effect. Whatever, I found funny to see all the mistakes he made, but that's not important, the point is that a server-side phpBB forum spell-check plugin exist.

Of course, you are English so you surely know how to correctly spell the words.

In my Suse Linux system, it runs as intended... The words that are mistyped are immediately marked in red within the Konqueror browser (but it seems that sometimes, the spell checker doesn't turns on...!?).

If anyone wants to install a Linux system, i found sometime ago an article on Tom's Hardware Guide about how to do the migration.

But consider not to completely discard Windows like it is presented in the article and it's videos.

Also, i wouldn't really recommend Rad Hat Linux for people going from Windows to Linux. I would instead recommend Suse or Mandrake but don't complaint after, that i gave you bad advices, please.

If you want to try Linux, remember that it is by far better for checking mail and browse the web than Windows. There is no memory of a virus ever doing serious damage on Linux systems.
Also, Linux distributions usually come with almost all programs you will ever need but, if not, installing new programs is usually not an easy and flawless task.
Also, you will not have codecs for DVDs, some video codecs, sometimes Java doesn't work, ...
Also, you most probably have games that will only run under Windows.

The option presented by zwzsg would be very nice...

Go get microsoft virtual PC and load a Knoppix iso image into it. Or go get something liek VMWare for *nix and load windows into it. Or get Wine for Linux though it doesnt have as full a support for w32 api as a virtual OS.
