Huge Ping

I have a problem with my game. Whenever I play on a small map with one other person my ping is around 300ms. When the game speed is increased it goes up to 1300ms. Then, on the bigger maps my ping goes up to 13000ms. It's a weird problem since I get lag even when I host. I tried turning some options off to make the game run better but still didn't work. I have cable internet and in other games my ping is fine. My computer is good. 3.4 GHz with a nvidia geforce 6600 256MB. I'm not really sure what the problem could be. If anyone has any suggestions, please say them.

dynamic water causes this effect for me, probably because having it on uses so much CPU/GPU time that the ping signals get delayed :P

but that lowers my FPS to tiny levels as well, so I presume that you've got something else...

Yes I use a router. I forwarded my ports already too.

I turned off dynamic water. I turned off dynamic clouds too, still it's no better.

I'm guessing no one knows of a sollution? My friend is thinking it might be a mistake with the networking. Since him and another friend of his was playing the game together in the same house. His friend had a ping of 1300ms but on his screen nothing was lagging. So the number may go up to around 1300ms but not really be that high. Instead being around 300ms.

My friend and I often experience large ping. We figured out what was causing it, though. Whenever we played at normal speed, my ping to him would always be around 133ms. But, whenever we tried to increase the speed, our pings would skyrocket to unplayable levels. The game would stop responding until the host paused it. Decreasing the speed of the game to normal 1.0 level would fix the problem.

I believe I have got the same problem just that I can´t even turn up the game speed in singleplayer against an empty AI. In the Previous Spring version I could play up to 3x speed without problems (and the settings at mediumrate) and now I get great lagging even on small maps. My PC has about the same Power as the one mentioned at the top of this thread.
