TA model data bank

What you think about it?
Ive suggested it in another thread and I think that it could be done.
Personally Ive already modified all OTA ships for my own mod, and some planes.
suggest a TA Model bank, pointing the units that still not are remodeled to some extent versus others very enhanced or modified in a diferent shape.
As example of "diferent shape", I love the airplanes and tanks from Evolva, but some ships I dont like...but Its only personnal taste

I always spell universe as unvierse so it takes me ages to get to that site

although... i can't model but lets face it; unless someone models these units, everyone will have to have OTA (technically) to make it legal... plus they will look nicer! like the flea! ;)

I cant model... DARN YOU UVMAP! oh wait... i finished that part... DARN YOU UPSPRING... wait... DARN YOU LAZINESS. brb i have to spend another 12 hours looking for a complete Wings3D guide. If I ever figure this darn thing out im making a fricken guide and submitting alot of units to this thing if it ever happens.

EDIT: ok nvm still have no idea how to make an alpha layer.( I think we would have more mods if people would explain these things, instead of saying, well now make an alpha layer and put some white where you want the team color to show up, then save it, and im like wtf how do i make an alpha layer in upspring, wtf is an alpha layer)

How can he learn it sooner if it takes him longer? :wink:

Also, someone help me out here, is this saying that we're making a bank of units from OTA models, just making them look nicer/newer, or is this saying that we're putting all the models we have now in a bank..?

Also again, shouldn't this be in "Art and Modelling"?

nope, this is for mod makers. We need to get away from the cavedog models and move to our own models.

So like, remake a 'TA', sorta, but our models?

Hmm, if I ever learn modelling I'd like to contribute. If ^ is what you mean.

Though offtopic, for alpha layers and getting uvmaps to work in upspring, read Maestro's tutorial. Located in the upspring folder or here

The idea not is about a bank of TA 3d party units, because some already are better fitted to Spring, but remake all Cavedogs to a new standart, not only a few or half of them.

THIS is another very good idea, but we will need to plan new races (or not??), and, if yes, we will need new design caractheristics for each class of units, and also new textures better fitted to Spring.
For example..ARM planes X Core folded wings, ARM straight hulls x Core angled and very metallic..etc
Sinclaire is already doing something like this :-)

All of this, in resume, is a lot of work, and we need a big team..but its would be the better solution.
