In reference to the thread about jj's psychedelic map, and other occurrences

Smoth just because you think a map is a waste of time and effort doesn't mean you have to say it, let people judge for themselves and only offer constructive criticism if any, after all saying it's rubbish and a waste of time isn't going to have an effect is it? Just look at the past.


Secondly, whether you hate smoth or not, the attitude is horrible and drives new people away from contributing to our community and gives us a bad name, as well as being immoral and bullying.

Whatever smoth does it doesn't give you the right to be trolls, take the moral high ground and ignore anything he says you don't like, WE HATE SMOTH in big red letters and other similar posts are disgraceful, and I don't like how people are pummeling smoth to spark his short fuse so that it gets shorter each time. You're poisoning and influencing other board members into thinking this sort of behaviour is OK and you're taking victims like smoth and stunting their potential turning them from productive members of the community into embattled wrecks.

Whatmore this is all going on and it's not being moderated, these threads take pages and pages before they get locked, abuse doesn't get censored or tagged.

Then people come back into the lobby and start spewing the poison in #main!!!!!! This is the first place new users go when they first start spring, do you really want them seeing all that cr*p there for all to see? Do you think they'd be happy in such a community with those first impressions? Do you want them to think it's OK to behave like that in this community?!?!?

B*itching and slagging people off in #main should earn users temporary mutes with a zero tolerance policy. And the people who do it in the forums where it stays and people read it should be ashamed of themselves, Imo they deserve temporary bans, which I doubt they'll receive, but a more proactive attitude towards cleaning this forum of such garbage should be taken.

And in anticipation of certain responses, I'm not siding with smoth or the smoth haters. I am not saying smoth is in the wrong or that he's in the right, but that the reaction to him has been appalling and that the smoth haters are definitely in the wrong. How Smoth has conducted himself to begin with is for the individual user to decide for themselves, not for you to shove down their throats, and smoth may be just as bad as the rest for continuing with the troll flames, but that's for you to decide.

And I dont want a gigantic flame in responce else I'll ask that it be deleted in its entirety

I think the past discussions about smoths behavior were just fine. If people disagree on things it should be discussed, and if many people disagree with a single person, then he gets a lot of response.
So be it, I'm really not sure what the point of this post is exactly.. do you know it?

You make it sound like it's completly unprovoked to. Have you read smoths posts? Sure, he uses a bigger deal of finnese and intelgense in them, but it's still mostly used for being an ASS to anyone who's a "moron".

AF, I appreciate the thought but this has always happened even in real life. I am a big target and eventually I lose patience. However, IRL I can stop them one way or another. Peope will stop. However, on the interenet people can sit there and stab at me all day untill it comes to the point where I snap at everyone. In the end I just look bad and since they are technically do nothing wrong as far as the rules go they are fine.

In the past I was bad and I would be overly harsh. I have since taken efforts to go away from it at the request of certian members. I do what I can to help around here and still am getting attacked. You are correct my fuse is pretty short now and your post IMO is dead on. I at one point begged decimator to ban me for a week so I would be forced to take a break from all of it.

However, I think the people will continue. I am working on the whole flaming thing. They will not. It will only get worse and i will leave the community eventually if it keeps up. What will be left are the people who do nothing but act like jerks.

It is not a matter of discussion. I have improved and am still working on it. However, as I said in another thread, I have a personal smoth hate squad on this site. They will at any point in time post what ever contrarian nonsense that they can. If I say the sky is blue they say it is purple. Often times disrupting constructive conversations or threads just to jab at me.

I am sick of it. I find it terribly aggitating that people say it is no big deal. It is not a matter of one or two strong posts. They are several little cuts here and there. Over time it is quite obvious, however to the casual observer it looks like I am just snaping at people for no good reason. I will not name people publicly but they HAVE started the drama. If you don't believe me JC, pm me and I will tell you the people to look at. However it IS happening.

So posting a horribly crappy map is a good thing now? Many of you were singing a completely different tune about 8 months ago.

Part of smoth's problem is that it's horribly irritating to be argued with when you're right and other people just want to argue for the sake of it. Like the teamcolors for example. Anyone with half a brain could see that it was salmon pink, yet how many people came out of the woodwork saying that it was red? I'm sorry 255, 80, 80 is not red, it is damn near pink. But still anyone who had never opened up so much as ms paint wanted to argue about it, regardless of how right he was, then I chimed in, threw some grenades and finally people started shutting up.

It's things like that that piss off the people in the community with brains.

Well, there we severl threads like these around through the month.
Handeling a community is a hard thing to do.

As for smoth. He contributes a lot and helps people who ask nicely.
And he can be somewhat agressive. Well, we've got used to Bruce, haven't we?

I did have some essay of things to say, but meh.. whats to say? People should try being a bit more tollerant, and try listening insted of just blasting others opinons because they dont like them. Smoths a nice guy. Helll, I bet me and him have fallen out loads of times but I still respeck him for his work and opinions. People should keep private grevences (though how you get them over the net is beyound me) out of public message bords.

Thats the point there are people here who think that because they think person A behaves like an ass, then they ahve to behave that way themselves and go after them, and we're allowing it to happen

I haven't seen much direct flaming... but ya, if people are legitimately flame baiting then I'll try to keep more of an eye out. If it's going to become a problem we're going to deal with it at some point.
