Web hosting

Does anybody know of a good free web host? I want a free subdomain, a lot of storage, the ability to store large files, and no crazy bandwith requirements.
Geocities just doesn't cut it.

If it's something that qualifies, Sourceforge is great. Figuring out where to upload your HTML is nigh-impossible, but I could help you out with that.
Whatever you want hosted, it must be either a program, or an addon to a program, or otherwise have some sort of source code or whatever.
There are no bandwidth limits of any kind.

Well, yeah, some of that. But mostly I want to be able to store pics, music, and videos.
Imageshack and youtube are good for the pics and videos, but I don't know of any sites for music, and I would also be able to keep all of that stuff in one place.

As far as I know,
http://www.byethost.com is really good for a free host.
Huge storage, pretty good bandwidth, PHP5 and MySQL, lots of sub-domains and CPanel. Custom error pages too.
Really, I like it very much.

That would be awesome! Much better for me than the alternative free webhosting company that would have file, format, and bandwith restrictions.
But it would come with baggage for you:
1) The only thing at all I know about the internet is rudimentary html.
2) Geocities was about as complex of an upload system as I can currently do. I might be able to learn though.
3) Check your PM for a list of all the stuff that would be on the website.

It aint hosting it's just the address.
Look at
http://dasbruce.darkstars.co.uk it's hosted on his comptuer but its setup so he can use the address as if it where his own

Well, that isn't as good as I had hoped. I will still have to find a free host somewhere, because my comp is rarely on.
I would still prefer being at lindir.darkstars.co.uk than lindir.freewebhostingsignupnowandgetafreetoasterwithbannerads.com

darkstars.co.uk isnt a host at all
http://www.darkstars.co.uk/index.php is actually
http://taiskirmish.sourceforge.net/index.php
so you just need any host that'll support the DNS stuff to get lindir.darkstars.co.uk to work the same as lindir.freewebhostingsignupnowandgetafreetoasterwithbannerads.com

Buying a URL is hardly expensive. I got a .org.uk at about £9 for two years...

darkstars.co.uk was £2.50 a year, it's the hosting thats the pain

But even paying a penny would be a big pain. I would have to set up a credit card or paypal account or something, and I'm to lazy to both find out how to AND to actually do it.
