how do you get energy in case of emegency?

For example when u need to cloack comm or dgun ?

I go to builders and factory helpers and put stop command on them. I also try to go select all MM and put them on off. The best is when your ally changes his "share enegy mark" to 10% (meanin he shares u a lot of his E )

Is there a better way?

Build Fusions.

so much for "emergency".

If you really need the E fast, I use ctrl+a (select all) and s (stop).
This shuts down almost everything.

[edit, yes ctrl, not alt. thx min]

its ctrl a :P well on my PC anyway =)
yeah that and selecting any MMs i have, factories dont eat much resources, its the builders/nanotowers assisting them and making defenses that really eats that e

And if you have any spare con units and unreclaimed trees, start sucking them up with massive "area reclaim" orders. It's irregular power, but it can still help, especially for D-Gunning.

first of all... never E stall unless you are using metal makers that you know you can turn off... second, build lots of batteries (energy storage)... they are relatively cheap and that way when you turn everything off, you can store a whole lot of energy and have a good gap to move around in when you turn it back on again.

FYI=energy stall=(builders+commander) metal autonomous production ONLY.

so dont.

Use metal maker ai.

You should always aim to have a little extra E for emergencies, E stalling is bad =)

M stalling on the otherhand is quite good, you should always be using all your available metal...

I tend to request it from my teamates... something like....
Oi lads!... Ive run outta e again! I think Im screwed! gimmie gimmie gimmie! boooom!

even moho metal extractors (they use 300 energy in xta) can be put in metal maker ai.

the problem is.. moho metal extractors should have higher priority (true is almost all cases), but putting them in mmai will turn them off when you only have 300 energy left.. and there is no sorting.. or priority to turn metal makers off first.

Anyhow, i beleive Alantai has made firther progress in its metal maker handler v2, but i dont recall exactly how it works.

IIRC, it's included in the latest NTAI package. It prioritizes metal sources based on their efficiency.

From what I remember, it's based on how much metal you can get for how much energy. Pretty simple math, no clue how much of a difference it makes in-game.

It was based on the fact that more metal generating structures where more efficient than others, for example if you add 10 moho metal makers to the metal maker AI and you broke even you where OK, but then if you added at the end a new type of metal maker that generated 1 metal for 20,000 energy and started to stall, the metal maker AI would go through the list from top to bottom turning off the mohometal makers first and thus in the end ALL metal makers would end up turned off.

Improved emtal maker IA however roders that list so that the most innefficient energy wasting structure is at the top, thus emanign moho mexes are at the bottom moho metal makers in the middle, and that nasty 20k metal maker at the veyr top, so it gets turned off first, allowing you to generate the maximum amount of metal for the minimum energy.

Someone put that in the wiki for me? Give ro take a few corrections..

Can do. It ships with the regular NTAI package, right? Are any of the other GroupAIs that ship with it of interest to someone playing the game (as opposed to creating maps/mods/whatever)?

Ah, I see there's already Wiki pages for them. I just applied AF's explanation to the Improved Metal Maker one.

I cant think of very many, if any, situations where you would have moho metal extractors and would be willing to trade the metal income in exchange for a measly 15 energy/second. If you are energy stalling at that point, it is almost certainly something less important eating your energy.

I think an interesting addition to spring would be a slider on the energy bar, similar to the slider for sharing. This slider would be the minimum amount of energy to keep in reserve. When this number is reached all units/factories would behave as if you were stalled at 0 energy. There would also be a state on all units called something like "Use Reserves". This would be located in the same place as the states "Move Orders", "Cloaked", etc. If this option was toggled to "On" then the unit/factory woudln't be subject to the reserve limits. All units would default to "Use Reserves" = "Off". You could also apply this to the metal bar. I really like this idea a lot.

My opinion is still the same.

Build Fusions.

Why did you assume he was talking about AA? Mexes in XTA use quite a lot of energy. =P
