Making your own units shoot at your own units?

So, admist recent fits of boredom I've taken to playing singleplayer emptyAI games that mostly consist of screwing around aimlessly, things like seeing if I can't bring an entire map underwater or whatnot. Anyways, I know in most RTS's you can tell a unit to force fire on another one of your own units and I was wondering if that's possible here?

Thanks in advance!

nope, and in most cases your units won't even fire at an enemy if one of your friendlies is at risk of getting hurt. Even in FPS mode you can't fire upon your own units. The only real way to pull it off is to give your units to the enemy.

o.O How do you do that?

Select the desired unit. click "h" this brings up a small window.
in this you can give a static amound of metal and energy to an other player. Aslo you can check the "give selected units" option.

Giving your units to the enemy just so you can fire at them is silly. Reclaim them instead. But it's vital you build your defence efficiently.

ok, so amongst silly tactic (see other thread), I can enclose units into dragon teeth (lets call the area Arena), I put my com into it with some L1 units, then I give them to the enemy. I blast them, and thus I receive experience...

Perhaps worth the try to get a 2x health krogoth?

another option would be to share a deflector with the enemy, not only is it unable to damage you, but it acctually continues to protect you from enemy attacks until he figures it out and self-Ds it... meanwhile draining energy from HIS reserves (similar to the old trick of sharing unneeded metal makers, doesn't work anymore BTW).

The sneaky "spam out peewees, share them, then destroy them for free XP", is kinda clever...

anyway, all these tactics would make people stop playing with you entirely so I wouldn't recomend them unless you agree that dirty tactics are allowed beforehand...

but on the other side of things... turning on cheats in single player and giveing a bunch of forces to the computer and then trying to blow them up is entirely gratifying.

And it's a lot easier than playing with AI, I can tell you.

I did this for my first few games, just getting the hang of different units. Plus, I didn't know how to get the AI working properly. :D

I refined my: 'get XP easily' concept in a test game.

2 bulldogs in an arena. Give one to the AI. Back each of them with 5 nano turrets.

Wait some minutes, experience climb... When bored, stop the supporting NT of your enemy.

I wonder how much XP a unit could get if I let my 'puter run overnight with that

Deflectors turn off automatically when you give them to another player. In fact, anything that uses energy does as well iirc.

The unit can get as much XP as you like, but the stat increases max out at about 133% of original stats. So it'll be 33% more accurate, 33% more health, and 33% faster reload time. Not sure if there are other increases.
