Movie Review: "The Island"

This movie kicks ass. Certain scenes are ridiculously fake (the, uh, "Jesus must love you" scene comes to mind), but by and large it's a surprisingly good movie. It's pretty rare these days to have an idea that's not a complete rehash, is well-acted, has a good story, is clever, etc. It's over two hours long, but feels perfectly paced the whole way. I honestly can't think of a single scene that could've been cut.
If you want a good movie, rent this one. If you're a parent, this is probably a good movie as long as they're over 12 or so, I'd say... there's very little "objectionable content".
edit: oh, when I first heard the name I thought of some crappy Leonardo Dicaprio movie I'd never seen. I think It had a similar name. This is NOT that movie.

It got over-all pretty bad reviews. An over-all rating of 5.4/10
out of 175
reviews. But in the end its all just opinion.

*MOVIE SPOILERS*
This movie was promising to be great until they got out. Then it turned into an insane chase/special effects film that totally destroyed the first hour of set up. It made me sad that it started off really well, and then just went so horribly wrong. A bit like a small child playing in the road and then being brutally run over.

Yeah, that's EXACTLY what it's like.
Some better analogies, maybe?
