Spring RTS Engine

I swear every time I post something helpful or try to state something I get 90% opposition. Each and every single time. Two of the individuals in question are Caydr and Argh. Now for a long time I have been nice about their quirks but I am tired of it. Caydr and Argh, I am saying publicly you need to just trust me and other from time to time.

There is a certain mapper who is always catching flak for not using bryce? What the hell his maps look great! Yeah bryce is nice and all but not the best mapping tool! The guy knows more about mapping for spring then 80% of the people on this forum but gets near the same disdain as someone who makes shitty maps.

Or another moder I know CONSTANTLY has to deal with incessant bitching about his mod not being TA-LIKE ENOUGH! Yet people even as they are reading this will say... "no one bitches about nanoblobs" NO ONE PLAYS IT EITHER! The mod in question... yeah people actually play it.

There are others who are also in the same mindset as me and they are not going to be named. I listed two people because they are examples but I am not naming anyone. I am sure most of you will just option to crucify me and hoist caydr and argh around as heroes. I am not going to drag other names up to the sacrificial alter to be sacrificed.

For example I model a few plasma shots people bitch about them. They are free! The complaints... they are about features that spring doesn't have BUT they don't want to think about why I spent the time to do it! NO, they want to just state how it could be done better without thinking about it. If they saw them in game they would say, hey that looks better then the 3do plasma the moders are currently using.

A lot of people here have opinions, they will often state them without knowing what they are talking about. They don't want to help, if they wanted to help they would actually look at the issue and try to detail and pinpoint it an example:

created because people simply dismissed little guys as being possible in spring. So I take a beam weapon... WHAT DO YOU KNOW! IT WORKED.. then I say sweet this is a possibility. So I post the concept mod as an example. I come back to a lot of naysayers. SO I fix the mod to target the broken mechanic. I then try to squeeze out specifically why it is broken and leave the mod up as an example so that ONE DAY hopefully when the bug is fixed we will know and we have a quick way to test it. The community reaction, almost zealous hatred.

The thing is we are all here to either play or work on spring yet few of you want to really help. When someone does you act like it is dirty money. If I walked up and handed you a dollar... yeah it is just a dollar, I am getting to the point! You would accept it... "cool free money"(people reading this are already preparing their nuh-uhs soo before you quote in disagreement here is a complementary:STFU) people on this site instead of taking the dollar are like "pfffft I want at least 20."

It is free! Be grateful! I know I will be hated for this but I am tired of it. I am tired of Argh treating other moders with disdain. I am Tired of caydr not giving other people a chance. While argh and caydr may feel singled out I will say there are others. I am asking, no demanding for it to stop.

How does argh treat other modders with disdain:
For: EE and gundam, he came in both threads and wrote long rants about the mods funny enough they are one that show to anyone who has played the mods that he DIDN'T but to people who haven't they say damn, this mod sounds like shit, the guy has good points and BAM that will hurt the player base of a mod.

He didn't know what he was talking about he was talking out of his ass. when confront in a civil mannor he offers no appology. Damage done, I had to bust ass to stop the bad image he gave my mod. FUNNY that he does this right at release... way to be an asshole!

I stayed quiet but recently I have gotten fed up with all the bull shit so I am standing up on the podium. Throw your tommatoes I know you will... and I will in turn flip you off! You want a better looking spring but you moon the devs! You want a better and more origonal mod yet you play AA! FUCK YOU!

Alright, so people are critical of your hard work and you feel that it frustrates and drains you?
How can it be fixed?

Can it be that (Caydr and Argh) people are actually trying to help by giving there point of view?
And that you interpret it as opposition?

People are wanting to much, like this is the forums from Supcom.

I know your frustrations Smoth, I hear them from others as well.

I would say that argh is but his recent post in my thread was not at all trying to help. I was thinly masked as such but no, if he ever played my mod or had seen the show it was based on he would not say what he said. Even though in his criticism he says specifically that he did.

I.E. He bitched extensively about how the mechs could not fly and they fly in the anime:

There IS a flying mech in my mod and it is the ONLY one that flies in the anime.

There are others but I am not going to break it down into all of the specifics. the above example is typical of him. He will pick apart something without actually taking a look or really trying it.

I correctly perceive it as opposition. I speak out against caydr not on my behalf but on the behalf of those who lack the desire to be chastised for speaking out against him.

I'm sure there are people here that are drained and don't feel that there work is apriciated.

I guess all you can do is take a break and get back in for another round once you feel up for the task again.

The only way is social presure. Which is what I am doing, I am trying to get people to speak up and say something against it. Although doing this will likely make even more hated. I think and hope that when/if argh sees that people do not appreciate his antics he will straighten up. Again, I speak for more people then myself.

I am constantly chewed on so I figured that I can be the big bullseye and take the hit for this. It needed to be said.

yeah tim, I am seriously going to ask decimator to ban for a week starting tommorrow. I do not want to even have the option of talking about it. I am really tired of it.

Perhaps its becuase AA is good? I don't care how a mod looks (within reason) so long as it plays well.

Crticism is part and parcel of being a modder.
If you throw your toys out of the pram everytime someone has a different opinion then thats your problem.

You can rant all you want, the uninformed public will not stop giving you negative opinions. That applies to everything.

Furthermore, build stuff for yourself because you like doing it, not because others might like it. That way you don't depend on their credit either.

I don't really get anything for their credit but I do want other people to at least try the mod JC. I could play it by myself all I want but I think there are many people who would also like the mod. It is bad enough that most people have a preconceived hatred of anime stuff.

However, this isn't about my mod. this is about all of the crap over time, I am not a person that one thing really gets me but I do build up and then erupt. This has been coming since the day I started trying to establish a unit scale for spring. Magnified by the small units discussion, arguments on map size, arguments about the fact that ota people hardcore fear change and boiling over at the fact that people will argue that pink is red for no other apparent reason other then to spite me.

Yeah in the end, sure steve it is easy to say I am being a pussy if I didn't represent the collective sentements of MANY people. If it was just me yeah, I would say I was being pissy. If it was just one arguement I would say maybe I am taking it the wrong way. However, after it has consistently been happening to myself and OTHERS I have decided to say something against it.

Ocassionally the community needs a gut check to get the civility back to a norm. This is one of those times. There is a lot of fighting between mod makers a lot of bad feelings I want it to stop.

Just like the time I started the thread about how people bitch too much at the devs!

Whoa, what'd I do? I barely post anymore except in my own thread. Is it about that red vs. pink thing? I did try to help you out there. Seriously, I don't know what you mean. I even go around and help answer questions when it's something I'm knowledgeable about (like firing arcs).

When I come upon something that I know others would probably want to use, I post it in the forum for others to take. I let Noize use my buildpics, no questions asked. My remodeled Arm construction kbots are free for anyone to grab so there's ho hideous texture collisions. My new HLT turrets are there if anyone wants em... I've got about 8 people in my MSN list that I basically just have Q&A sessions with whenever I'm online ^^

If this is about AA getting played while your mod isn't, I don't know what to do about that. I've never played Gundam Annihilation, not because I think it looks bad or sounds dumb, just because I'm not interested in trying anything new at present. If there was some way I could help promote mods that aren't played even though they're quality, just say so. Seriously.

I don't like seeing hard work go to waste. It just happens that I a) have a knack for problem-solving, b) don't mind spending a few hours every day working on AA, c) always consider community suggestions.

No, don't get me wrong you were a name I was mentioning because some others were frustrated with you. PM me if you are worried, the main one I was targeting was argh. However feel free to vent. I think we all need it out of our systems. I know I may be one person(I know I am in the top ten on a few hate lists ) you want to vent at but I'd rather everyone be happier again.

I don't do that venting thing. But change your avatar and I'll promise to agree that the red could stand to be a tad redder.
