I am curious, how many of you are experiencing crashes on his maps?
I know I am not the only one. I have NO idea why it happens but I know others are experiencing it. so does anyone else experience it?

I haven't experienced any crash, but two times when I played DeltaSiege (different hosts/ppl) players were having out of sync trouble, complaining about corruption of the texture map. The strange thing was that they claimed they had played it before just fine. This might just be pure coincidence, though, but I figure it's worth mentioning.

yeah, I cannot see why it is crashing either. Dig site(occasionaly) and delta seige(FREQUENTLY) crashes. I am not sure what is causing it. I know I am not the only one.. I have 3 gigs of ram and a 256 meg video card yet still delta seige and digsite crash. Delta seige also get this weird corrupted look from time to time.

Is it just his maps? Are there others that do it to? I highly doubtr its limited to just his unless theres one specific thing he's doing different to the rest of us (but seeing as he lernt from us I cant see what he'd be doing different!!!)
I mean, it cant just be that his maps were rendered in bruce, cause things just dont work like that. His render prog should have nothing to do with the result.
Only possilitys are:
His version of map conv is bust.
He bases all his .smd's on a bad smd and has never fixed the mistake.
His 7zip is messed up.
But all are unlikly to be limited to just him.

I'm not sure, the other day I was in a room for a High and Low game, it crashed several times until host gave up. He told me the map was buggy, so maybe it was just him. This only happened once so it's not exactly empirical evidence, just speculation.
I can't see any consistency in these issues, some of us never have trouble with IceXuick's maps, while others frequently do. They are popular, which explains why many would have trouble, but does it occur on other popular maps, say Speedmetal?
With DeltaSiege being 50mb I can where trouble would arise, downloads could easily be corrupted, unstable RAM could mess up, antivirus programs could start scanning file and mess up terrain loading, etc, but it's not very likely, and wouldn't occur very often, or it would occur every time. Maybe with time we will come to dismiss this as mere coincidences, or find out where the problem lies.

I should also state that in my frequent work on gundam I use spring single player...
There is only one other map in the 100s of tests I have done. The map was: battle range.
My guess would be that is something in the smt or the compile options.
as far as size I run epic no problem and agian, I have 3 gigs of ram and a 256 meg video card(6600gt)

OOOOOOOOO I BET I KNO(W WHAT IT IS!
I had completely forgotten about it... When I made pathways I had many many issues with it crashing for no reason.
I believe I know why ICE's maps crash for some people.
Negative values for sun direction cause spring to crash sometimes.
Thats it.

Hmm I thought you were on to something there but I checked it out..DeltaSiege has:
SunDir=0.008 0.556 -0.444;
Altored Divide has:
SunDir=1 0.75 -1;
So probably not that then.

I get crashes on Brazillian Battlefield a lot, but never on Ice's maps. Also primary (but not exclusively) using spring SP.

This is the problem right here
"-0.444"
if it was -0.4 it would probably be ok. BTW just because altored doesn't have that problem doesn't mean that it doesn't exist.
If ice hasn't replied by the time I get home, I will fix them and upload under new version numbers on the smfs, and then we can see if the problem still exists. I am 100% certain that if all the numbers are positives then it will not crash.
I understand the dou8bt guys, but keep in mind that I have been doing this for quite a long time and have released more maps than any other community member (to my knowledge), and as such I am not usually wrong when it comes to technical issues in mapping. And before anyone asks... atm, I have 23 released maps.

I will look into this. It may be a seperate issue altogether. I will look into it and see if I can come up with any conclusive proof.

Instead of a conclusive proof, provide us with a 100% reproducible bug report, that's even more useful.

Deltasiege has never, ever worked for me - but the symptom is different - I get sync failures whenever I play on it (it could be my PC or someone elses - we tried like 6 times to play it before I gave up on the map for good).
