Is it possible to have a mod such as this work in Spring? If so I think it should be the 'standard' mod.

jouninkomiko: Every units is useful, caydr takes a huge amount community opinions into consideration when making each version.
If you really want to play it then put your name on the online players list, its best in multi, kinda suiting for spring.

yeah, i just used it yesterday for the first time, it is SOOO good!
its like TA:CC with far better balance, a far better AI (one computer opponent is hard), with 10x the number of strategies, and less than double the units. (Which is excellent, in my opinion)

Yes, I see, so why dont we just call it AA Spring? Oh, because its TA Spring. TA. Good old TA. XTA is Also rebalanced, and it will be heavly tweeked for spring. So it may have no new extra units, but then does that realy matter? I cant help being a purist. I dont mind both. But it should be released with XTA and thats Final. (X TA is the one the SY made right? If not i menat what ever there one is...)

So are you saying to the SY's that you'd rather the SY's release an engine by the SY's with features by the SY's but you dont trust them with a balancing mod made by the SY's for the SY's engine and you'd rather you played around with another mod which you can just install after you've downlaoded Spring anyways? How do you not know that XTa for spring is inherently more balanced than AA in spring? Afterall the SY's should know as they're about the only people to play spring int he first place. I think hat we should just ignore this till spring is released and see if we still fidn ti a problem

If you ever played TA with a compilation pack of units (like TAUIP, TAUCP, etc), it's about the same.

It has alot of new units and buildings. In what it difers from many others is that it's famous and it's famous because it's good and well balanced.

I prefer XTA for the initial TA-Spring standards because AA adds alot new units and buildings...
(i never really liked to have that many powerfull units in lvl2 as Agamemnons and big arrays of Lvl3 units... Lvl 3 should be for the Krogoth, a sub-Comm and little else...)

XTA is also very well balanced and doesn't adds new units.

As for second choice, AA would probably be it.

There are many others nice mod out there. Why don't you create the polls:
- Should we have AATA as the basic mod? (AATA != AA)
- Should we have TA:FF as the basic mod?
- Should we have TLL as the basic mod?
- Should we have WD as the basic mod?
- Should we have SWTA as the basic mod?
- Should we have the Rumadian as the basic mod?
- Should we have UW as the basic mod?
- Should we have Rhyoss as the basic mod?
- Should we have TA:DS as the basic mod?
- Should we have UH as the basic mod?
- Should we have WH as the basic mod?

Why can't we stay with what has already been discussed and leave the EDF Chronicles the basic mod? Since its anyways being ported into Spring?

Why do you people always talk about mods being "ported", theoritically they should work automatically.

And zwzsg, you forgot XTA. :P

Not to mention TAUIP, TAUCP, UTASP, Raven, "The", and of course that one with all the pink stuff. FASCIST!

Personally, I'm not really in support of making AA the default mod or even including it. It would be nice to see as an optional download eventually, but forcing someone to download a 65 MB mod as standard would be really irritating.

By the way, does anyone have a comprehensive list of mods with their stability? If one was to be included, I hope that it would be one which is 100% stable, without any error messages or BSODs. In my experience, maybe 1 in 10 of the mods available don't crash randomly.

The EDF Chronicles: Generations Past is a mod featuring two races - the Earth Defence Force and the Drones - battling each other much in the way the Arm and Core do, especially since they both are long-forgotten relatives of them. The Arm and Core are participating in the conflict too, and with a bunch of new powerful units and upgraded units to counter the immence might of the two new races.

By 'porting' the project I mean remaking what has already been done, the scripts, models, and balance, so that these things suit the new engine. Adding detail and missing faces to models, tweaking balance to account for game mechanics changes, and such.

I've been playing AA this day and think it doesn't really have a lot to do with TA itself. The new L3 units are over the top and are really not suited for the engine or the other units in the game. I'll take XTA.

XTA prevails thank god! We wont try and stop people playing teh other mods though dont worry...

Yes, I never said I listed all mods there. The point I was trying to make is that even if t seems there's lots of Absolute Annihilation fan out there, there's alot of other fine mod out there, so I was irritated to see such a narrow choice in that poll. Not that Absolute Annihilation is a bad mod, just that other mods exists, and aren't of lower quality. I have a longer list somewhere in that FAQ, but even that list lacks a few large mod. I should update it some day.

And Sean, when was EDF completed? Image I can't locate the actual EDF files at TAU/EDF!

It never was. The Drones reached around 60% completion, then the Spring project showed up, and the whole thing was started over again.
