Question for AF and groupai's

Could you design an outpost building groupai? To the point that it would build turrets in a specific area.

This could be particularly useful. Would be even more useful if it had the ability to fortify with walls (this is with EE in mind if you didn't notice).

An AI that allows for wedge formations also, pretty please.

It looks like the public have got the message regarding the potential behind GroupAIs at last.

My first reaction is: This is funny. Alantai has been saying how useful they are for some time.

My second reaction is more restrained. Alantai is not the Spring devteam, so it's not his job to implement every request put here. So folks, don't overload him. Please.

I would be a lot more willing to trust one written by you...

@targ:

I've been saying forever that if groupai's can take away some tediousness then hell yeah!

The problem si I'm all for informative AI's, not proective AI's, things that aide the player by giving them information about the battlefield they can see, such as the time, or different representations of the minimap and automating repetitive tasks (such as turning metal makers on and off).

But building an outpost is a little too much.

One thign I may do is allow users to record a set of commands that the groupAI saves, then you assign the groupAI to the unti in the future and tell the unit where to go and then it goes there, then starts following the saved macro... But That's the closest you'll ever get to a base building AI from me. That is unless your planning on it being an integral part of a mod....

I would be a lot more willing to trust one written by you...
=D, cookie for foreboding!

I've implemented the following AI's of which 4 I've made in the last 3 days

Cursor AI
Unitname AI
Anti-Stall AI
ETA AI
Improved metal maker AI v2
Map exporter AI v2
Local Time AI

I greatly doubt that I'll have anymore for a while now, say a month at the very least, more likely to eb two months...
