Modelled/UV'ed Elemental is looking for a skin

I am interested in seeing if there is anybody who is talented in making texture skins for the BattleTech mod that is in development. Currently we have a need for texturers for the models that we are doing. UV-mapping experience would be a nice bonus as well, but it is not necessary since we are already capable in that department. Here are some pictures of the Elemental (courtesy of myself) that we will be putting in the mod, along with the UV map that I created for it.

If anyone is interested in texturing this unit, please ask and I'll be more than happy to provide the model for it.

[edit]On second thought, I'm not looking for someone to texture this Elemental immediately. The Battletech team has not established a common theme or uniform design for the texturing yet (visual unity is a point I would like to stress for any would-be textures for this mod), so I suppose the purpose of this thread is more to say that this is what should be people should expect as input for BTech[/edit]

I'm rebuilding Sheekel's Spider tomorrow, and doing a step-by-step tutorial.

Tell ya what... if you'll write me a script for the spider's walk animation, I'll do the skin for the Elemental.

It'll save me some time, and I will stick close to the BT IP and do it in a realistic style. It won't take You've been kicking that model around since what, January? If you have a script for it... let's just get it done.

heh, You'll have to talk to Archangel about the script. Aside from that, 'we' still haven't decided on the paint-scheme that we will be using in BattleTech, so I'd have to give you the run-down on what we're thinking about. One option would be just to give each unit their own paint scheme like this or this just to give you an idea, but again, we haven't decided yet.

The Jade Falcon Clan theme would be the easiest to implement with "Team colors".....

with the grey being a base texture, and the blue as a transparency with the team color.... you could even still have detail with the blue with a "gradient" transparency and black/white under the transparency, to add a detail under the team colors... just so they are not flat colors...

and even for detailed lights, switches, etc, under the team transparency with a little finesse..

I'd love do to some texturing for you, but ... an elemental?? is it really worth all the hype?

I've gotten tired of skinning features, and well the tyranid chimney is the only one left I REALLY have going right now... and I'd like to do a mech, wanna send a REAL mech my way?....
Say a... Warhammer, or a Massakari, or a Vulure, or who knows, inner sphere even, a Fafnir or a Hauptmann.. I never really liked the Atlas though... but an Awesome would be fun :P

Well Stanly, the thing about elementals is they are a much simpler than a mech platform to test out all the scripts on. Fewer weapons, simpler walk animations (usually), but still needing all the little bits that will be in the mechs.

And uh, I'm probably not the guy for doing walk animations. I'll be figuring out how to handle all the angles as I go along, but starting with a 4 legged spider type isn't where I thought I would start

No offense, but a four-legged spider is actually pretty easy. Doing a mech in a convincing fashion is a lot harder ;) Speaking of which... I'd advise stealing the mechs and scripts from my MechPack: Improved. I think I've already mentioned that... there are a number of Battletech mecha in it, and they're already scripted and pretty much ready to rumble- all they'd need is to be converted to S3O, skinned, and voila, you'd have them done...
