I just had some time and started to make some sounds.
Some of them I made over 3 years ago.

ftp://compstomp.de/fxsound.zip
ftp://compstomp.de/fxsound2.zip
ftp://compstomp.de/fxsound3.zip
or
The singe files under:
http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/packsViewS ... hp?id=1094

As you see those files are now released under the freesound
Creative Commons Sampling Plus License
So you can use them but don't earn money with it.

Most mods use sounds from OTA or any other game.
It would be great if the sounds could be replaced.
These seven sounds could go right into any mod ^.^

(funny guess game, where does the sounds from FF came from? I hear hull damage from Half-Life (sounds effects in a vent) and some lazers from any Star-Wars simulation games (X-wing, Tie Fighter, X-Wing vs Tie-Fighter, X-Wing Alliance))

these sounds were edited with Audacity and some other nice tools... :)
If I would be rich i would buy Steinberg Wavelab! A great tool for audio editing...
These soundfiles are not taken from a game.
I'm still trying to create some more...

Wavelab is indeed a great sound editing tool. Usually you optain such software by school licenses or some sort.
We'll be rooting for you!

Audacity is very nice.
Anyway, sounds are a very important part of mods where nobody seems to be working on. Can you oficially release them under GPL or something similar (if they are originally your's, of course)? "Use them if you want to!" is kind of vague.

Anyone can use it.
Those sounds are 100% made of my own hand and I allow anyone to use it.

Anyone = any TA:spring mod dev

I don't know if I can release something like sounds under something like GPL! Anyone did something like this before?

You can. While the GPL is written for software, you can use it for other things, as described in GNU's Other Licenses list. You could also use a Creative Commons Audio license, probably the Attribution-ShareAlike license.

Not all the OTA sounds are owned by Atari, just look at the lightning cannon sound for the zeus, i hear ti on adverts etc, it's all voer the place, Atari must be making a fortune from mobile phone and music companies.......

Very well done! I think we are well underway in replacing some sounds...

I don't suppose you can do some sounds for modern warfare type mods?

this should be possible.
But as you see I'm a very old man, so I need to search my hearing aid first.
