So, how does the "Latest news" on the main page work exactly? Does editing the forum post modify the news item?

From what I understood, posts on Ingame Community > Tournaments or Development > News show up there. Are there any others?

yes, its instant updated: there is no caching.

I think it could use some style changes. The current title/separator style is this: I think it should have a sharper contrast with the news body through a different background color, maybe alternating background colors for the news items too.
