Options for preventing com-bombing and other lame tricks

Can you please add these 2 options that the host can choose on or off (Off by default) by clicking on a checkbox?

1: Prevent damadge from commander explosions inside enemy start position.. so if you march your com to the enemy's base and self destruct it, it won't hurt him at all. But if he sends an orcone to your base, and you bomb the orcone with the com, it WILL damadge it. (And yourself as well)

2: Prevent your commander from getting picked up unless it is in your enemy's base. So, if someone sends an atlas over to your base, they won't be able to pick up your com while it is in your own base, or just out and about. But if you send your com over to the enemy's base, then they CAN pick up your com!

Pleeeeease can you add these 2 options to the game? I think a lot of people would find good use for them! I know I will! =)

UGH!

No! We don't need no more "solutions" to com bombing.

Look, we got com ends, d-gun limit and the choice to play without COMS AT ALL.

If you don't like com pushing, com rushing, com napping, com bombing or anything else a com does, play hover commander.

And 2: walk your com. A walking com can't be picked up. If you decide to start walking your com it will try but fail to pick it up and your com will proably laser it to death. If he somehow manages to slip an atlas into your base where your com stands around doing nothing, it's your own damn fault.

My com never gets picked up, I know to walk it. But a lot of people don't and a lot of games get ruined by it. Limit d-gun and com ends doesn't do any good.. all a griefer has to do is march his com into your base and blow it up, along with your whole base, and your com, and half the damn map. He doesn't need d-gun. And people don't care if it's com ends. People still com bomb me no matter what I do and I have come up with a way to stop it, why do you shoot down my idea so quickly? :(

i absolutely agree with kixxe, all those special rules will just add more special cases in the code. com bombing is a result of an imho stupid design, dont blame the engine for that

btw: @caydr: couldnt you let the commander explode like an energy storage? this would solve all of these issues

No. The commander exlposion is one of the most satisfying elements of the game. Especially on Comm-Death-End. It also looks really cool.

I dont see anything wrong with using your commander for attacks. I do it all the time. They are great for taking out big groups of little units.

Besides, its a unit in the game. There are usually counters.

LLTs. About 3 will kill a comm.

Guess what happens when a com dies inside your base?

The enemy loses instantly. Because if you've got any sense at all, you're playing with "Comm Dies, Game Ends".

Or single HLT.

Com death game ends is the only sensible option.

on big maps with average players gimme com continues anyday. of course they can drop their com near ur base with a atlas and toast ur base, but i've never met someone who does that (NoiZE did it once to prove a point).
I still think that a com ends for the first 10 mins would be great, after which it would switch to com continues :>

Now there's an idea. Though one of the things I like about it is that it provides more focus in the late-game. Instead of having to wipe out a sprawling base, you have a specific target you're trying to hunt down and destroy.

Guess what happens if com dies next to your's and it's on game ends? You lose also, because of the com bomber. :(

It's a tie.

It dosen't matter if it displays "You lost the game" or "You won the game". It's still a tie, since both players died at the same time with a diffrence that can be meusred in Nano seconds.

So it's becomes a tie. Thats the worst that can happen.

Don't let him. Your comm has radar, use it. If necessary, throw a couple heavy L1 units at him to slow him down, use a couple con units to build a line of LLTs, and lead him into it.

What if there it is more then a 1v1? What is there is 3 players or more?

Also, please tell me, what harm would it cause to add these 2 checkboxes into the options for hosts? Would it bloat the file size to something insanely large or something?

NO, BUT THE DEVS AREN'T FUCKING FARTING OUT MAGIC OPTIONS.

It takes time, strength and a shitload of coffe to program something "as simple" as a couple Checkboxes. Don't think this is made bye a crackteam of f higly trained programmers, this is mostly a team of 6 or so regular programmers that is likely still in collage. They are kind enougth to spend their freetime working on a free project without pay, insurance or dental.

And there are atleast a thousand more important things to do then add more options for pepole who think the com is cheaty.

I have all of the mods and maps from fileuniverse. I like hovercraft commanders. It solves the com bombing problem. But no one will join HC games. So I am limited to singleplayer with crappy AIs if I want to use that. Thus it isn't an option for me. Some people like you might have a great challenge fighting AI so it works for you playing singleplayer, but I need multiplayer. =/
