zwzsg had this idea quite a while, and Forboding Angel also came up with it. So i thought i'd give it a go.
What does this mutator do:
Your Commander is a Hovercraft now!
it has 6.000 HP and is worth about 7k metal
Makes 2.0 metal and 50 energy
Its workertime is 500 (a fark has 170) so it's worth it!
I didn't modified the movementclasses, otherwise you would hav to precalc any map again, so it's maxslope is about 21 which is till pretty good, so you need Kbot's/Airplanes to conquer those steep hills!
When it dies it explodes like a Estorage, so it's a nice explosion but it won't kill an entire front
when it's being self destructed it won't leave a wreck..

ergh, "Its workertime is 1000 (a fark has 170) so it's worth it!" so this commanders builds 5.88 times faster then a FARK. isn't this a load more then the current comm, or am I mistaken.

Did you change the factorys hitpoints at all? I would think that this is kinda necessary for the purpose of stopping rushes from killing factories quickly.
Meh, I wanna try this out. IMO this would definately be a good step in ta/aa's direction.
BTW nice call with the workertime. Makes him quite valuable, also, he can set up forward bases like a mother. Great stuff dude.
I was hoping yesterday after I made that post that you might do a mutator :D
edit:
btw for those who don't already know, commander originally had a workertime of 300.

i did not change the factory hitpoints, just pump out a few LLT around them, they build like in a second.

Seems to change the com's role a lot. But that was the pointany way, so why did i bring that up?
On topic: I think this is a cool idea. Keeps the comm usefull in building, fast enough to get place's and slightly less mobile, to balence things out. Also you can't comm bomb as well anymore, and nor would you want to, as who wants to throw away something with such a quick build rate?

With this simple little mutator, ta is now mroe of a strategic game than it ever has been.

Shouldn't you make him a lot bigger now that he has more HP and buildspeed? IMO, powerful units should be big :)

I don't understand why wouldn't you just use the regular commander and just changed it into something similar to that:
- increase it's health to those 10K
- increase it's worker time to those 1K
- remove all it's weapons
- change it's explosion
- Whatever else necessary
Less changes would be necessary than adapting a hover cons and it looks cooler, me thinks.

Hover Comm == Faster, Goes OVER water as opposed to under... Moves fast no matter whether he's on land or water.
There are a lot of good reasons to make the comm a hovercraft.
