Overkill?

I'm working with a 512x512 UV map on these Tyranid Capillary Towers...

this is the detail thats starting to show... and the longer I work on it... the better it gets :shock:


you guys think its overkill too?

What is this deep paint 3D? Is it what I think it is?? IE, a way to paint ONTO the model in realtime? If so... DAM IT I WANT IT!

not even... its more like a plant....

its a fungal thingamajig from what I understand and it "lives" off the planets natural resources or something, and it ejects toxins that kill all other life on the planet...

the big one is a "spore chiminey" or something, and if its disturbed (shot etc..) its supposed to release spores that screw up the atmosphere...

basically, its a really nasty very advanced fungus....
its living, but not really moving... think of like a bloody mushroom with spikes and an exoskeleton....

If you only texture 2 or 3 "segments" you should be able to repeat the texture for other segments and keep the texture size down.

ah, but they are all different sizes, and have different facet counts... if that would only work...
