bridge timeout

Hello,
I'm used to hang around in Spring chat via the IRC bridge. It seems an old version of me is hogging my nick. I don't know how to make it realize there's no more any client behind, and release it.

I think is a client behind it, or at least the IRC bridge may think that there is. Uberserver clients that don't send PINGS are dc-ed after about a minute, and all clients are dc-ed after 14 days. I kicked them both and "zwzsg[IRC]" immediately logged back in, but "zwzsg" didn't.

zwzsg was the real me,
zwzsg[IRC] was the fake me.
What shall I do?

I did some more experiments, I think uberserver (or perhaps twisted, which is the network lib underneath) must be at least partly responsible, give me a bit of time to investigate. If you could post the exact message you get when trying to login, that would be useful.

My mIRC alias does:
/nick zwzsg[IRC]
/server -m irc.springrts.com -w ********
In my Spring server tab, I get:
[21:33] * Connecting to irc.springrts.com (6667)
-
[21:33] -irc.springrts.com- *** IRC bridge for Spring lobby server (use your Spring login and password to connect)
-
[21:33] -irc.springrts.com- *** Looking up your hostname
-
[21:33] -irc.springrts.com- *** Found your hostname
-
Unknown command
-
zwzsg[IRC] Nickname is already in use.
-
Ultimately I could just use register another nickname, as long as I don't have to do it every day. But I suppose it wouldn't be
environmentally minded to let ghosts pile up on the server.

Yes, the fake zwzsg is still there.
Did you restart the bridge, or the the server?
Maybe an actual someone stole my nick and hangs on it? I wouldn't see why though.
Anyway, I made a new alias, hopefully the old one will some day time out.

I don't think anyone has stolen your u/p, just your login session somehow reached a zombiefied state inside twistedserver and couldn't fully leave. You should be able to login normally again now. If it ever appears again I'll look at it more closely.
