Spring RTS Engine

Version 2 of Arctic Plains is complete. (16x16 6 Player map). I've upped the metal of each spot to yield 1.7. Also some small smd tweaks have been made. And I've made the metal spot texture more attractive. Download: http://fileuniverse.com/?p=showitem&ID=2609

(nice map - the sky doesn't really match the map, I don't think. The blue is too deep, so that it looks temperate, as compared with the arctic map)

Or keep the blue and give the terrain a little more blue and drop the light levels globally just a little, there is almost always a lot of blue light in any arctic scene in nature.

I'll definitely take that into consideration. I like the way the sky looks, reminds me of arctic pictures I've seen:

What you might want to try is to keep the sun color white or slightly yellow while making the ambient color somewhat blue, creating the blue tinted shadows etc.

i think the hills look perfect to me, dunno why but they do. (from the screenshots).

I pinched your .smd atmosphere colours hrmph to demonstrate what I meant with more blue in the ground colours.

noooo leave it the way it was orginally. Soo pretty. I really really like it hrmph.

Thanks for all the positive comments. When I have a bit of free time I plan on releasing v2 with a bit more blue tint (mainly in the unit ambient color). Also I plan on redoing the visible metal patches; they looked much nicer before they got shrunk and after map compilation.

Well either way its a good looking map.
