SpringFiles website down ?

Post by Sebby »

This isn’t about SpringEngine specifically, but it’s related because it’s one of the main repositories for maps and software builds.

The website seems to have a serious problem since yesterday. It seems like someone didn’t pay the hosting bill because all I see is the hosting provider splash screen, out of the box.

Can someone here contact the website owners and let them know ? Or am I missing something here (being new) ?

thanks

More than down though.... it looks like the website is completely wiped out, not a 404.

the dns entry of springfiles.com is wrong. it should point to 37.187.92.174 but isn't. i've notifed the owner, but i'm out of control of this.

i can only wait and ... lets see what happens.

It appears it's finally fixed.

Both api.springfiles.com and paste.springfiles.com seem to be working now.

EDIT:
wait, the images for some of the items are missing (but not others).

meh, i tried to fix it, the migrations were out of my control :-|

this whole thing should get replaced by a single upload page and auto generated content pages.

sending mails on springfiles.com is broken: so new user registrations aren't possible. IMHO its not fixable because it runs on inside some home-like network.

I cant seem to upload new maps onto springfiles. I can log in, the upload form is there, but when I try to upload stuff nothing happens :(

Edit: it seems to be related to file size, it even says in the upload box that max file size is 32MB, I was able to upload a 1mb file, but my 90MB map obviously failed.

Thank you, my current largest map is an unreleased Throne remake at 134 MB.

Edit: limit is still 32mb, was I too fast?

no, php.ini syntax was broken. it was like:

Code: Select all

[PHP]
upload_max_filesize = 128M
...
[PHP]
upload_max_filesize = 32M
i've set it to 256MB: thats maybe to small for several games, but IMHO release for games should happen via rapid/git. (+ springfiles itself needs to be replaced, drupal 6 receives no security updates any more)

Lovely, I can upload the map perfectly now. Download works too.

Preview images somehow do not get uploaded correctly though :'(

That could be related to a missing image resize library on server (gd or magick) ("Images larger than 1024x768 pixels will be scaled")

Thanks for the feedback.
Do you have some sort of time-frame when you're fully rested/relaxed and back from vacation?

reindexing of maps takes some times, but all maps should be there. no clue when i can create a new springlobby release for windows with the updated url as the buildslave is down.
