Map... finnished.. very tired ...
Download it here
http://www.fileuniverse.com/?p=showitem&ID=2529
Some Pictures...
Base in the Uper Right Corner - suffers of the Lowpass
The Metallmap beneath the Vulcan... a rendered Picture of a MagmaChamber below... suffers because of Metallmaplowpass
The Iland in the Djungle. The Djungle suffered, because i didn`t got my 3ds Trees into 3DO Editor... One Day... it will suffer...
Skeeter in the Harbour... doesen`t suffer, which is very boring... Some of the Waterways need heavy Bombardment by Roaches, Tanks, Ships to get passable. Constructionsubs can block that again.
One Geothermal, in one of the Mushroomsdeserts... Well, it suffers... ah... it suffers,..... ahem it suffers when you walk over it with a Pewee in FPSs Mode.
Its supposed to be a World were Evolution has gone Berserk, faster and faster, and it looks like a very very very old Pancake with some really hazardous maggots on it. Feel Free to Drop Napalm for the Flamewar on the Djungle.
Any Coments got to

hmm, wierd, is there anything you can do to change that skybox from having that sudden cut from cool dark background to pale blueish colour? Other than that tis very different, and I like ti a lot.

Actually thats a compliment. I have never seen a map so original

I like:
The water
the origonality
some of the colors
a few things I would like to see.
1: the fog needs to be darker and probably a shade of burnt umber
2: overide the detail texture with your own. The current detail texture obscures your map.
3: the water at the edge does not match the skybox... this cause VERY unatural edge transitions

As most Problems were with the Skybox, i mad a updatet Version with it, and i am currently uploading it... i nearly delteted those blue stroke and filled it with black colour... - concerning the detailmap... i knew there must be something more organic... well, i will try to solve that too..
As the SMD File inside the File is still editable... can you help me experiment with the Fog Settings, maybee also insert some Black Clouds... and post the Result? That would be great Help...

How about this fog setting and colour, to match the skybox.
FogColor=0.87 0.34 0.19;
FogStart=0.9

Seems like there is a lot of metal in the top, right corner. Interesting game though.

Thousand Thx... i will go over the metallmap with the big Eraser...

Well .. seems more easy to make a landscape, than to make a tactical interesting Map. My Main Dream was to see jammed Pewees out of the Djungel, rushing for a big Cruiser on one of the Rivers... Seems that Lobster makes for Lunch, than for a map...

You are officially the mapping god of spring, I have never seen anything so original or beautifal. the metal patches are in cool patterns, the map itself is beyond awesome, water is small, but well spaced so assults need some skill, and evrything else is fantastic, congradulations on making my favorite map, demand you make more.

I will

But those Maps take time... i am currently working on some SpacePort and a City. Would be great if you would upload some Records of your games to
http://www.fileuniverse.com ... for analysing purposes :)
And it`s nice to recive those coments for work, but others are better. Just take a look at River Dale, THe Cold Place Remake, Chess Board or the Mountain Lake Map - compared to there Perfection, i am still a Noob, making Noob Mistakes, that keep a lot of people in this Board busy.
And now to something completely diffrent - i am currently uploading something very Ugly - that looks like a very messed up Metall Map. Name is Greenpie.sd7 and it is a testrun for a maybee coming Map with Highly Deformable Territory. If you don`t want to download crap and wait for a final version, you have my complete understanding. However - if sb out there has free bandwith and want`s to try something - here is the link and a Picture...
At least for this one i won`t live in Fear of Feminstic Hatemails

just Das Bruce dropping by Barking and Biting - that Guy wants Bloody Bones not Cookies...

The map does indeed look awesome.
But that's where all the goodness ends.
The gameplay was horrific: groundbased units took FOREVER to get across. Maps like that will result in only 1 type of game: Airwar, which is a shame, cause the maps looks too cool to be demoted into the "too many air-only-maps allready" section.
Also, the metal distribution is really unbalanced. I've played a 3v3 on it, left vs right. The left side had at least 30% more metal than the right side, giving it an unfair advantage.
I would LOVE to see a simular map, but please make sure your heightmap is a LOT less bumpy, allowing units to get across quite swiftly.
Since you're such a genious with creating textures, i'd suggest you start toying with the TypeMap. So far i've only seen maps with 4-5 different types of ground/water. A map with 10-20 types with all different speed boosts/cuts could be VERY interesting. Imagine a map where as units get closer to the middle their speed gradually increases. Just a random thought.
