Mediawiki search is, frustrating. For an example of how it can quickly get really annoying, search for unitdef and then search for unitdefs. The result difference is night and day. I'm not proposing that we change anything about how mediawiki works.

I would like to have a sitesearch link added to the special links section of the wiki. It's just a convenience thing. Saves typing and that way remembering this url is no longer necessary: http://www.google.com/search?as_sitesea ... s.com/wiki

So this would change the sidebar page to:

Why not https://duckduckgo.com/search_box instead of google? Something without the iframe, of course.

Seems a reasonable add to me, it is clearly better that mediawiki's native search.

Oh, usually it's mediawiki:sidebar. I just checked and it appears to be the same for ours as well:
