Chobby & emails on registration

So apparently chobby doesn't have an email field. I legit don't understand. One of the reasons for the big push into chobby was that it had the needed capability with the server changes. Now I find out that it apparently just... doesn't?

Well that would have been nice to know beforehand. Now I'm in a situation to where no new users can register because this is a thing:

Does this functionality just simply not exist in chobby? If so... well, that sucks.

i guess https://github.com/Spring-Chobby/Chobby/pull/458 is required to make it work. IDK if some fixes after this pull requests are also needed...

chobby doesn't have an email field.
It does. Chobby has an emailRequired setting which you probably need to turn on.

Umm, I don't understand. Does this have nothing to do with the portable launcher?
I was under the impression that Chobby was capable of the email stuff from the get go

i think this is about you needing to write an email when you register on spring servers
what relation is there to the launcher, portable or otherwise?

There is no email field in chobby

add it!
I still don't have the foggiest Idea what is going on. I use Gajop's launcher for chobby. There is no email field in the register panel. Beyond that, I have no idea what is going on.

@forb:

My original PR automatically recognised when the Spring protocol was in use, and showed an email input field in this case.

For some reason, it was changed by Googlefrog/gajop in https://github.com/Spring-Chobby/Chobby ... 0f48cfeR50 to require the setting params.emailRequired. Afaics you will need to activate this setting, presumably GF/gajop can explain where it should be set, I would guess its just your usual params file.

Nope. Even if I force it to show the email section (by just telling it that email is always required), registration does nothing.

By the way, you guys are aware that registrations via SL and Matrix are completely fucked right now, right?

registrations via SL and Matrix are completely ...
They aren't, currently a handful of new accounts are successfully registered via SL each day. I also tested it myself a few days ago.

It has never been possible to register new lobbyserver accounts using the matrix, nor should it be.

I'm currently away from home, can't test current Chobby, but ofc it was fully tested and worked after my original PR was merged. Probably quickest to speak to GoogleFrog/gajop, who made the most recent related commits. I guess logfiles (rather than pictures) are needed.

We told people to register via springlobby and they got bad session IDs which is exactly what I got when I tried it.

SessionIDs enumerate socket connections, they have nothing to do with registration/emails.

It's basically impossible to help you unless you provide log files. I am able to register new accounts using SL without issue.

Upon trying it again today, SL worked. No idea why it was broken before.
