Spring freezes my computer

My computer completely locks up after playing spring for about 10-15 minutes. It's been like this since the first time I ever played it, about version 0.5, and still crashes with the latest version.
Computer spec:
2.4ghz Pentium IV.
512MB RAM
256MB Nvidia Geforce 6600 (with latest drivers)

Even if put the res down to 800*600 and turn all the fancy graphics off, it still crashes. Spring uses practically 100% of the CPU and stays that way until it overheats and freezes up, forcing me to do a hard reset.

Here is a picture of ten Pee-Wees running about. It's running the commanders script, so it can't even be the AI messing up.

Can anyone help?
Please?

Most game will always leave your CPU usage at 100%. I whould speculate that the problem isn't that the CPU usage is 100%. If you think that 100% CPU usage is the problem try running a simpeler program that uses 100% of the CPU. Just about any free game that isn't turn based should work.
I whould guess that your graphics card is faulty and ever since .5 spring has overtaxed your graphics card. I had a faulty graphics card that whould work fine until I ran almost anything that required the 3D features. Then it would Bule Screen.
