3 Questions

Hi.
:?:1)I don't want to rush the TASpring developers but does anyone know when the alpha version is coming out or when the game will be completely finished and will it be a free download?
:?:2) When I ever I start a TASpring game, it asks me to select a starting point, but I have no clue how. Anyone want to tell me?
:?:3) If you ever played Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, you can munipilate the camera so it's really close to the battle and change the angles. I was wondering if you could do that in TASpring.
Thanks in advance

It's already in beta, and it's under the GPL... [So: Never, and Yes, are the precise answers... Based on your username I'll assume you are not asking about a DEC/'Compaq' binary.]
:?:2) When I ever I start a TASpring game, it asks me to select a starting point, but I have no clue how. Anyone want to tell me?
You click somewhere on the map, and then press 'Ready.'
:?:3) If you ever played Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, you can munipilate the camera so it's really close to the battle and change the angles. I was wondering if you could do that in TASpring.
Ok... You need to do a little work on your own.
Edit:Kixxe, aww, you did a better job then I did though... Not everything is a race

1: It is'nt a free download? And Spring is steadly being updated, but proably when most of the bugs, a decent GUI and some mish mash menus it will be "completed". Witch is never
2: You click the ground somewhere, and press ready. Ofen players have a green box they can choose inside, to avoid 2 oposing players on the same spot.
3:

Anything else, ask the wiki :

Alpha-wise, there's none available. Why you want one anyway? We have Beta!
If it isn't free I'll be bludgeoning several select people to death for it
God only knows when it will be completely finished. Also, how do you mean "completely finished"?
Do you mean: "When we reach TA:S v1"? (current version is 0.66b3)
:?:2) When I ever I start a TASpring game, it asks me to select a starting point, but I have no clue how. Anyone want to tell me?
Click on the map

You can. The unit models aren't as high quality as DoW, but that's being worked on

I'm not sure what made the three people who previously answered this question believe that it was worth an answer. On the front page you can find without Scrolling down:
"New version, 0.67b3
The previous release introduced a problem with using AI dlls through the multiplayer lobby, so we have decided to release a quick update to fix this.
If you connect to the multiplayer lobby you will receive the update automatically. It can also be found in the download section as usual."

Wait a minute, so you have downloaded the game, and installed it, and have played it (to a small extent) already? but you asked
":?:1)I don't want to rush the TASpring developers but does anyone know when the alpha version is coming out or when the game will be completely finished and will it be a free download?"!
Be nice, just because you don't understand what the question is asking (it's poorly worded granted) doesn't mean you have to me mean about it. -moderator

*sigh* Yes, you can change the camera. In fact, there are
three seperate modes in which you can change the angles and get it "really close to the battle"
That's annoying.

Err...I have another question would it kill you to answer it?

Point One:
If you are a n00b we will mock you.
Point Two:
We arn't trying to be mean, it's just frustrating to know so much and have all these people who don't know anything. It is especially annoying for us to know that it is easy to find the answer to a dumb question without posting a new thread about it.
Point Three:
We tend to answer any questions you ask, so keep asking them until you know enough to not sound like a n00b and we might be nicer about our answers. (this mean's yes, you can ask a question)
Point Four:
http://taspring.clan-sy.com/wiki is a great source of answers, I would recomend the "Using Spring" article as a good start.

On a nicer note... If you're new to a website (specifically a forum) and you have questions, it is probably best to poke around and lurk for a week, maybe two, before coming out of the shadows. You are likely to have your questions already answered somewhere by then, and you'll give people a better first impression of yourself.

Actually there are 4 camera modes, a fifth populous style camera I wrote that was never integrated and a metaphorical 6th (OTA camera changed through ctrl+scroll wheel).
I guess I should perfect my populous camera mode and test it out and submit to svn.. damn i liked that camera mode

hmm, when I said three I meant the three that you could get to the ground with, and rotate and move your camera on all axes, those would be (from least to most restricted) FPS, Rotatable Overhead, and Total War (which, although it can move around a lot, is annoyingly restrictive), and then there is overhead (TA style), which you cannot get close to the ground with, or rotate around with.
Pipe Dream cameras don't count.
