So i just watched this semi-famous anime movie with my friend. It was called Akira and i have one...single...question...
WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED!
No seriously, that movie was the weirdest, just wacky movie i have ever seen! If anyone can tell me i would be most happy. See I can't sleep at night without knowing what the hell just happened. Why did that guy turn into a big blob? Why did a giant teddy bear attack him? What was up with those midgets?
If you haven't seen Akira, please see if you can decipher it. I think if we all focuses our minds and intelligences we can figure this movie out...
And if your too lazy to see just how weird it was, just think Spirited Away X 100 in the weirdness factor.

You need to read the graphic novels to truely understand... I am told... I have not... some basic answers.
Some scienticts found/created akira, a super kid, and ended up disecting him afterwards to figure out how he worked.
The midgets are just children who are "wise beyond their years", because they are in the same experiments as akira was.
The giant teddy bear with the milk blood was a mech created by the genius kids to scare the guy who blows up away from something.
The guy blows up because he can't control the powers that have been granted him, like the power was a really really REALLY bad cancer.
otherwise... as I said... the Graphic Novels are supposed to explain everything...

Hmmmm, Akira was pretty good, the music freaked me out far more then anything else.

If you want to watch something else that's fun and a major mindfuck, try FLCL. Easily one of the best things to ever come out of Japan, imho

This is very weird because we were just talking about Akira in the TASClient before I read this thread! I liked the movie alot, VERY VERY strange. I feel the same way after watching it, like Wtf!?! Anyways, if you havent seen it check out ninja scroll its a classic!

All this anime is giving me a headache. Seriously is the Japanise culture so radicaly different from American culture that their cartoons are incredably hard to understand...or am i just out of the loop?
