Before You Post About Balance...

Be sure your post is really about balance rather than your lack of skill or experience.
There is nothing wrong with lacking skill or experience, but be honest about it. Maybe you need to play the game better, rather than change it so it suits you better.

i agree.
even if something is bad everything has a weakness of some kind.
goliaths are very slow require flat terrain and require energy to fire
burthas only shoot at wat they see cheap lvl 1 units can be used to draw its fire
zeus need open space to spread out and use all of their guns.. walls & hlt's are good.. but best way to handle them is to intercept them with bulldogs or better goliaths.
and so on.. if you notice your enamy using a mainly goliath force get your plasma turrets to shoot at the ground and make them slower. vulcans/buzzsaws are great at this if you have them.
if u see a horde of zeus rush build 2-3 of the spider paralyser things and send whatever army you have to intercept.. bombers are amazing but take there sweet time in killing off the last few.
also if you think something is unbalanced... use it to your advantage.

Forums definately aren't the place to discuss play balance. You need to get a group of the pro's together (or compile some demos of them playing) and have them collaborate with the modder.
Imbalances can take years to sort themselves out as well. Even without changing the unit characteristics peoples playing technique changes over time. TA playstyle is still evolving now 7 years after the last patch/addon pack.

Forums are where virtually everything is discussed about this game. Balance is relevent to more then just what the high end pro's can pull off as well.

foe thats right on the money, cuz to me it looks a lot that ppl get owned in one way and want the mod to change so that they wont be in the next time.
(and this is only valid for some quite rare balance issues)

And you wonder why you are recieved less than friendly here?
Thats exactly that attitude i was fearing... That the old "elite" comes to spring and has to dictate (of course not public, as only the "elite" can decide such important things) the balance and gamefeatures on everybody...

Yes, the old elite are dead, they should step down... and kneel to the NEW ELITE!

Well the majority of the balance issues I was debating were for the OTA mod. Not for the game in general.
I just have a chip on my sholder about the Comm Continues thing. The rest of AA and XTA balance I don't feel very qualified to comment on.
It's not an elitist thing at all. It's just that those who have played 100's of games are better positioned to make judgements about what works, what doesn't work, what needs changing. And they're going to know how to counter more than a newbie would, so they're going to want to change less about the mod. Which makes the mod alot more consistent from release to release.
If you give the newbies what they want you'll end up with a porcupine mod, with no air units, and no berthas. And all the maps would look like Great Divide. Games will all last several hours.
In fairness I don't see alot of people trying to make their mods that newbie friendly anyway. I suggested on the AA balance topic (I know, I'll keep out of it in future) that perhaps a little simplification might help. I find the fact there are 3 types of fusion reactor a little bit over the top. My opinion was dismissed as "you want to make the game rock paper scissors".
