Basically imgur links here will show up as broken due to imgur not being allowed as a source. Perhaps consider allowing google through as well.

thats by intention:
- spam bots are embedding images from external pages.
- privacy
- external services randomly disappear
- springrts.com is backed up

It's pretty short sighted to think that anyone will happily use the forum uploader. This effectively causes conversation to be less productive. Sure you CAN upload to the forum, but that is literally the least desirable method.

If you want to embed an image properly on the forum you have to attach it, click place inline. Post, right click to get attachment link, remove attachment line, place image link in image tags.

Actually you can just:

upload, right click filename -> copy link location, paste inside image tag.

How does it improve privacy? Sounds like an argument in favour of having the upload-to-forum option, but not against having an host-out-of-forum option.

Relying on external image hosting providers is pretty bad. They are out of your control. I hate it alot in other forums when browsing two year old threads and all those images are gone cause some random image hoster decided to go out of existence.

If you do that, unless phpbb fixed something, the image will take forever to load. Forum has been updated several times since this was an issue, so I have no idea if it's still a problem (the link you got was not a direct link to the file).

I feel like we've taken two steps back. The attach-image & right-click method Silentwings outlined seems so unintuitive I'll need to save these instructions somewhere.

Spam bots are only visible to mods/admins and they should be dealt with by using proper antispam techniques.

EDIT: And I don't want the "attachment" to be appear in the bottom, so now I have to delete that? What happens if I delete an attachment but an image points there? Well let's see here: viewtopic.php?f=90&t=38465&p=589043#p589043

Teabag seems to have a found a way to make an attachment display as an image, without showing an "extra" attachments bit, but I don't know how he did it...

I'm a bit upset that it broke a bunch of images in existing threads.

apparently it even blocks https links from springfiles, like this
