LD43

Post by gajop »

Announcing the next Ludum Dare, LD43! Use this thread to sign up.

Date: 30th November, 2018 (see local time at https://ldjam.com), for up to 72 hours (OK to just participate the days you're free)
Communication: https://discordapp.com/invite/nvf9PdG (Updated! We use Discord now)
General info: https://github.com/SpringCabal/SkeletonGame/wiki
Game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/43/to-the-last-drop

We will be using Github (under SpringCabal's organization), based on the usual SkeletonGame repo, with latest maintenance engine version as well.

We'll be participating again as SpringCabal, but since there is no concept of a "team", be sure to add me as a friend, so I can properly attribute everyone like it was done for our previous entry.

Why cant you do the ludum dare, work on the job and ride the misses on a death metal festival at the same time?
Is a little multi-asking demanding so much?

Aw, and I was hoping to play with ivand's new shaders and Blender. Next time then!

That said, Picasso, how would you feel about trying this new PBR shader tech?
If you're interested, let's set up something with ivand, and test it out before the jam. Not sure how well it would fit in your workflow, but it would be nice to do if possible.

I think replicating his demo with a different unit would be good

Hi Picasso.

I wonder if the tool you use for 3D modeling supports something like Metallic (preferred) or Specular (less preferred as it requires some shader upgrade) PBR workflows?

Seems very likely that I'll be available, at least for most of the time.

Thanks everyone for signing up.
Pretty decent turn up, our team looks something like this*:
- Silentwings (code?, available for a day)
- Picasso (art, available for a day)
- GoogleFrog (code)
- hokomoko (sounds and some help with code)
- J (friend of mine, art)
- gajop (code)

A reminder to everyone to add me on the Ludum Dare site so I can properly attribute the game to all the authors. Best to also drop me a PM or leave a post below so I know what your account name is (I don't think I can see who is following me).

For this LD, I would like to focus on creating a playable demo as soon as possible, maybe within hours of figuring out what we want to do. Hopefully by the end of the first day we would have iterated over it a couple of times so we can leave the remainder for polish.

I'll be posting a few more updates before the event, please stay tuned.

I'll be available for whichever day has the worst weather ;) I'll let you know on Thurs/Fri which one.

Looks like we have plenty of code - I'm happy to make a map also.

For this LD, I would like to use Discord instead of Gitter. Much of us the Spring community is on Discord already, and there are no strong reasons to stick to Gitter. Join the SpringCabal Discord server and reduce the amount of browser tabs by one.

Also, we are currently in the process of theme voting. Please cast your votes.

Never enough in my experience :) But yeah, it might be a good choice to have you make the map. They turn up pretty nice, and the methods you use are generative so we don't have to make map painting textures separately.

It was visible for a bit, I suppose until it got flushed out from cache or whatever

We didn't use PBR, not sure what you're referring to.
