i.e. move everyone from #moddev to #gamedev, implementation details of doing so do not matter.

And rename #sy to #engine(dev). But implementation sure matters :)

I like #sy. History is important :)
Couldn't care less about *dev though.

maybe there could be aliases to channels, for backwards compatibility. The lobbies could assume "gamedev" and "enginedev" match "moddev" and "sy", respectively.

Joining "enginedev" would be the same as joining "sy".

I don't see why the change is needed (#sy) just to satisfy your current fancy? Seems a pointless waste of time and resources what does it resolve? Nothing imo.

#sy is very non descriptive, although short and nostalgic

I want two colours. Green for when the build passes and red for when it fails.

@hokomoko imo green is the wrong color for that a light shade of blue would be better, and I'm not sure about red, orange may be more visible.

I can neither unregister nor register channels and in the latter case it would not be appropriate for me to manage #gamedev as I am not a game developer. Why is registration limited only to moderators? On an IRC server anyone can register a channel.

you are smart, you can organize it. ask if this is wanted and if so ask the persons who can do it.

registration is limited to moderators because to many stupid channels with stupid topics were registered.

This topic serves said purpose.

I can't see anything much to gain here. #moddev is likely advertised in several places as "go here for help!" and it probably isn't easy to find+change them all, which is why #moddev was not changed to #gamedev.

Ofc if many gamedevs actually want to move their channel, it can be done, after I've finished painting.

Im definitely developing a mod, so naturally i feel discriminated and raped by naming my home to something that i do not take part in.

Also we need a bike channel - and we could give every channel a ascii art in log(O).

#gamedev? Be serious, that channel is #weed_and_lidl

#gamedev on discord is quite healthy, so maybe instead of renaming moddev straight to gamedev, first get rid of moddev, then make a new #gamedev.
