hi all,

I'm just wondering about taspring's legal authorizations because you never hide that it's a clone of Total Annihilation. And, the units have exactly the same graphical aspect (but 3d). So, you copy the name and the graphics.

(but it is absolutely not a bad point nor a critic, I'm myself a total annihilation fan and was very impressed by the taspring' demo)

What kind of legal authorizations do you have/need ?
Do you need ones ?

The "Theory" is that this is an "engine mod", meaning that like people have been doing for years, making custom units for TA, they are just making a custom engine to use TA content... for official units they request that you own the game, sticky legal territory, but basically sound... because anyone who gets the game illegaly is breachin the SYs EULA effectively... for mods containing no TA content it's like all those "Blocktris" games out there, as long as it doesn't claim to be the real thing, they shouldn't be able to sue us...

At this point there is no authorization to use some of the content.
I'm working on the Xect-Mynn mod to make GPL content.

ok, now it's clear.

it's only because players owe the original game that they can use yours.

not true, gundam annihilation only uses a few ota textures and once I get to uvw mapping and getting the rest of my sounds gundam annihilation will become just gundam :).
