For some reason the battle room *always* fails to start the game when the host presses "Start", it comes up with this error every time: Couldn't execute the application
I have removed and re-installed TASpring repeatedly, but it still the error persists.
CPU: 1.8ghz AMD
RAM: 1024mb
Video: Radeon 9800pro 128(DirectX 9.0c installed)

1)Is the only thing that happens is this error pops up, or does spring start to open first?
2)Could you tell me what the actual error message says? [If you manually run (Start->Run) the spring.exe (ie "c:\Program Files\TASpring\spring.exe") you can test much more easily then going through the lobby.]
3)Have you tried turning off all the 'eye candy' checkboxes? I am specifically concerned about shadows. [This specifically is of interest if the error comes up after Spring starts loading.]

This is the only thing that happens, Spring.exe doesn't even attempt to start loading.
The error messages contains exactly this text and nothing else: "Couldn't execute the application"
I can run Spring.exe directly by itself with no problems, I've set the graphics to "mediocre" levels.

Where have you installed Spring, and where is the lobby .exe located? It sounds like the lobby cant find the spring.exe. I get the exact same error when I rename the spring.exe and try to run it from the lobby.

Yes it seems it is unable to find spring.exe (lobby expects it to be in same folder as TASClient.exe). Try opening explorer and go to spring folder and manually open TASClient.exe from there, perhaps the shortcut has invalid working dir set or something (althouth it should work anyway I believe). Also, you are using "official" lobby client, correct?

yes I use the official lobby client that came with the installer and is auto-updated periodically. I used only default working dir("c:\program files\taspring"), and spring.exe is in the same directory as TASClient.exe

Did you try that?
Another thing would be to lower your firewall, perhaps it doesn't allow tasclient.exe to launch another process, or perhaps it has to do with rights (try to login as admin).
