Needed extension GL_ARB_texture_env_combine not found

XTA has been running fine for months and yet now it crashes before it begins and gives me the above error message in a box entitled upgrade your drivers. suprise surprise theyre the latest detonators for my 6600GT. whats going on? is this a result of this latest patch? ive turned everything off in the settings and nothing helps...
