Non-3d artifacts, while playing and loading the game.

Hi there.
I began to saw some artifacts, since a few days ago, while playing a speed_metal game. Since then I keep getting (non-3d) artifacts.
I have made a little record of my screens *because I was not able to capture it with a screenshot).*
http://daantimmer.mine.nu/downloads/DSCN2224.MOV
It is 9.57MB big, and I am on a 20/2mbits line. so don't expect long loading times :)
I keep getting them when the game is loading, but also when the game is loaded.
I sometimes see them trought the green nanolathing stuff, or truoghout the menu to the left or some black bars on the energy and metal bars.
I hope I have been as constructive as possible. If any more info has to be included, just ask I will most likely give it out. (Except from my creditcard number

)
My specs:
AMD athlon64 3200+
XFX GeForce 6800GT (twinview, 2x 19"LCD)
15xxMB ram.

This looks like an overheating graphics card.. is it happening in other 3D apps as well?

Nope, it does not :S
MY GF* can get up to 120degrees (maximum before it undeclocks itself ~protection). While playing 3D intense games (Like HL2 or NFSU:MW) it gets up to 78degrees, while playin TA-spring it raises to about 73-74degrees so no overheating problem :S
* I was refereing to GeForce, not GirlFriend

Hmm.. never experienced something like this (GF 6600GT), so it's either a driver issue or maybe something with dual screen..

mwha I hate it when I get those artefacts, but I never got them playing spring, on an old computer of mine ti would always display those sorta thigns on after a clean XP install, after which the computer buggered and XP wouldnt install fullstop, and I had to go for linux.
I then got it on ym stepdads old computer, when I upgraded from 98 to XP, and suffice to say we got a new computer a month later.
I'm not sure your graphics card goin to 120* overheating is such a good thing, I'd be worried about it if I where you. Did you overclock it?

I ment the maximum temperator, before the build-in-underclocker/security thingy does its thing.
I don't say it does get 120degrees, but it is its limit
This is what the info screen says:
Core slowdown treshhold
Degrees: 120C (uneditable)
GPU core temperature: 62C (just played a game)
Ambient Temperatur: 41C
*finked* Notify when GPU core temperature exceeds treshold.
I never had it exceed the 80degrees anyway :)

CELCIUS NOT FERENHEIT!
Ok here's the deal. I could cook a steak on your gpu. you need to stop overclocking it. 70+C is VERY hot!
70 degrees Celsius = 158 degrees Fahrenheit

It is not OC-ed. It's been these temperatures since I bought it. It is standard, few friends of mine have the same GPU with the same temperatures... So it is not due temperatur stuff thingy...
As I said, I alsod do not, I excplicitly say this, NOT, have artifacts while playing e.g. HL2, Doom 4 or any of them other *heavy* games
from some forum user wrote:
This card allowed me to crank up the video settings on all my old games and lets me play new games like Guild Wars at 30 fps with max settings. The dual video connectors are great for my software development applications. The software bundle is pretty decent as well. I am definitely going to buy a second one of these so I can run in SLI mode. I am somewhat concerned about the temperature which runs around 75 to 80 C during gaming but nVidia says it can handle 130 C or so
(this was a bout a PCI-e version I have the AGP version)
another forum user wrote:
Yep, that is definitely out of average range. Idle should be between 45 and 60 (quite a range, but there's quite a variation in cards' speeds, needed voltage, etc.). Under load, should be 50-70 (75 isn't too uncommon either).
(there was a guy who's GF6800GT was idle @ 80C so thats what he means with out of range
Go figure.

you mean fahrenheit then.
At 80 degrees C the card would burn up. For example, your cpu will burn itself up if consistently run at 120 F

no I am talking about celcius....

well then you are free to melt your gpu. You seem to have no idea how heat and processors affect and effect each other. First you say it's OC'ed then you say it isn't. Make up your mind and start telling the facts, not what you want us to believe.

Where does he say hees overclocking it? He only mentions automatic underclocking when the temperature gets to hot.

I don't really feel like looking over his past posts.
Regardless, would you not agree that 158 degreees is way too hot for a gpu?
Like I said, he can take it or leave it. I don't give a flying fuck whether he burns out his gpu or not, but his problems are caused from too much heat.
He can either put a larger fan/sink on the gpu or burn it up. I don't give 2 shits which. I was only trying to help.

That still sounds nasty, I'd ignore what they said on whichever foruma dn keep on the safeside. I wonder, your computer stuck hemmed up against a wooden desk down by your feet with only the front showing and the cables coming out round the back up against the wall?
Or did you follow th manufacturers advice and give it nice free space all around for air to circulate? I know many comptuer desks on sale dont let air circulate, especially those cupboard ones, I'd hate to see my comp in one of those with the doors closed.......

ok, the 120*C is the treshhold. your gpu will NEVER, at least should never, get the high unless ur in a room thats well above 90*F. the 6800 lines all run around mid 70's on full load, thats normal. the 6600gt's run right around 100. those are both celcius. cards noawadays run a lot hotter but its normal. it looks more like its the monitor than the videocard. try plugging in another monitor and see if it happens.
also, what resolution and refresh rate is set and what drivers are you using? download nvtemplogger and make a log of the actual temp. inbetween the time that you exit the game and check the temp, the GPU will drop down about 10-15*C.

Don't play speedmetal, not only will it corrupt your display, but also your hard drive and brain. Also it has been known to transmit herpes.

Well, cadyr really exagerates again, but speedmetal really has some issues in the stability department.
I noted some very strange crashes and desyncs, teleporting units and los where i didnt have a unit/ect on it.
