SPADS freezing at start

Was there some recent update to spads? Suddenly all xta autohosts are down, and when I try to relaunch them or regenerate the unitsync module, they freeze silently like this:

The cause of the "freeze" is the unitsync library, which seems to dislike something in your "packages" folder in your Spring data directory. I renamed the folder to "packages.sav" and now SPADS starts normally.
You might need to enable unitsync log to be able to find exactly what is triggering the problem (something downloaded with rapid just before the problem occurred I guess), or fill a bug report on Spring mantis.

entering the same data directory twice as primary and secondary data dir looks weird to me. this should be changed first IMO. (secondary should be set to "none")

Thanks. That must have been quite a complex issue to troubleshoot so I think bibim should have a cookie or something. Of course I tried with reinstallling spads but I didn't think about clearing the packages directory.
About the data dir paths in the conf files: I usually manually edit them anyway, this is just what the installer asks, you can still fine-tune them.

Now it happened again, I got this:
Nothing in the spads.log or in the log from nohup.log

This happens if you use the latest dev engine and download any map, it breaks spads and you get this error.

I tried that one but it cannot switch from engine to engine like the unstable build can.

You can also patch new engine so that it works with [un]stable SPADS
