Gotta get one of these when they're available. Look at the pictures. Looks like it'll blow the likes of ZBoard out of the water, that's for sure. No wonder they were pushing their product so aggressively lately.

If i'm thinking correctly, it started from the times of the mod "Action Quake" for Quake 2. Until then, everyone used the arrow keys but that mod shipped with a default config of WSAD, which were the keys used by a former champion of that mod. (i think)

Why is WSAD better than keys that are downer the keyboard (like zxcv)? Because of your thumb. If you use lower keys, you will have problems making your thumb reach for example the "space" key. (In fact, even using WSAD, the keyboards are a little small for the thumb to confortably reach "space").

I use, whenever i feel like configuring the controls, YHGJ.
First, it allows my thumb to confortably land on top of the "Alt Gr" key. I use my thumb for jumping instead of "Right-Mouse" and "Alt Gr" is much more easy to press than "space" and "space" gets more spent by other uses than "Alt Gr".
Second, i have access to alot of keys. Alot! With WSAD, your fingers on the left only have actually access to "Ctrl", "Shift" and "q". On YHGJ, you have as many keys on the left, up, right and down as your fingers can reach. In the surrounding, only the "b" key is not easily accessible.

And about using the arrow keys, that method obviously sucks and is meant only for those who don't know which keys are used by the game.

That's certainly quite the keyboard, I wish I had one. Almost (but not quite) as good as Das Keyboard on my Keyboard Awesomeness Scale (KAS)

If only someone could tell me what's so good about Das Keyboard. I mean, it's really ugly!
Now this

And if they would release one with the dvorak layout I would never have to look for another keyboard ever :P

Sure Das Keyboard might look like a brick with keys on it but who needs 'aesthetics' and 'comfort' when you can have no labels on your keys? :P

I hate those keyboards and zboards have horrid response.

Lets face it the slowest part of a keyboard is you.. the distance covered by a keypress. I use a logitech flat keyboard, I dare say my wpm has increased 5-10.

Personally I hate flatboards. They just feel weird. :P

While the original OLED keyboard this thread was about kicks ass (or would kick ass if it existed and wasn't an artists concept)..

The one singular kick-assest most bestest keyboard is the IBM model M.

Loud clicky keys... Can also be used to commit homicide if needed.

It pwns all other normal style keyboards.

Yeah, I think I'd settle for one of those flat ones for the next one I get when I arbitrarily decide that, for some reason, this one just isn't good enough. I find it much easier to type on a laptop despite ths lesser amount of space you have to work with, and a similarly-flattish regular keyboard would probably do the trick for when I'm not on my lt.
