I wasnt quite sure where to put this, but can 3DO files still be used in spring or do they all have to be in the new format?

not only is .3do still supported, I don't believe that anyone has released any fully functional units using .s3o models. They're working on it though, apparently Caydr's G/E/M thing will be completely .s3o

Weaver (I think it was weaver..) has released a fully working peewee model though... looks quite nice.

Well not really released, but he did put it only as a test and it looks quite nice and working to me ;)
