So, basically after all this time, finally we see an update! And omg, pretties!
Depends on "Spring Features v1.6" (spring-features:stable)
Thorns do not block units or shots.
The piles of rocks are destructible and are labeled as such (10,000) damage.
Ambient map sound! Squee!
Fog! Squee!
Giant map features! Squee!

Are they units at least, i hope?

No, just features with a rubble corpse thingy. In a lot of ways a unit would make sense though. Could do cool stuff like deathceg+sound.

AvoidFeature weapons will not be able to attack it then. Converting it to a Neutral Gaia unit would be better for this reason, it would not be automatically attacked, but it could be right-clicked for an attack to happen.
That, and animation scripts allowing you to detonate it into pieces
like Gravitas walls :)

the only thing that feels off are the boulders. They seem a might bit dark and don't seem to have a shadow.

They have a shadow. Rather:
- an AO plate decal would make them much nicer
- they seem weightless
- the objects composing the barricade are too similar to each other

Not that the ground beneath them lacks shadow, the rocks look like they are fullbright with no prebaked lighting to create the appearance of light.
I kinda want to try my hand and cobbling together something to rectify this but honestly today I have a lot of tasks that limit me to only being able to post from time to time.

Let's do a race, you do your version with prebaked lights, and i try a version that blows up in a cool way with baked physics

Smoth is right.. but there is another thing off about the rocks.. they are red in a world that aint.
Im trying to make a High Contras Version now.. with less strected textures and some smaller Rocks..
Funny how this feature takes so many itterations to get right
