InGame Replay

Orfelius played my game and found it highly non-intuitive- so i been thinkering. The best sollution of course - is watching other people play the game. Which is boring. Then there are tutorials. Which are work intensive. So the best sollution would be to display a game that has been played on the map. Show as a visual aid only what your predecessor did - and allow you thus to learn from seeing others who suck-seeded.

Request for:
Ability to replay a demo ingame, with all the interacting elements stripped from it.

Should solve the whole - we need tutorials and ingame mentoring problematic once and for all. Also allows for a outside of game algo to select the currently best build of a game for the tutorial.

I like the idea, but can you be a bit more explicit? It's hard to follow exactly what you want. You might be onto a bit of genius here, but I can't tell because the idea is still fairly abstract.

A new player joins any game- he gets a startposition assigned, but nobody has time and nerves to invest into tutoring.
The game starts, and a widget allows to execute the activity from a replay of previous player at a similar start position- via some widget (with for example a big - next building button).

Thus our player - even when clueless can always see what he should be up to next.
He even can see what the previous best player on the map at his position He can rewind. His build can get updated, by selection a better buil. The build (aka replay) is mapspecific, thus nearly alwyas existing for popular maps.

Replays can be filtered for stall_freedom etc.

You can use my Recorder tool: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=32735

It's not syncing, it just remembers enough to give a good impression of what happened, and you might want to modify it a little - I think it basically does what you're looking for here (but rewinding is never going to happen, approximately restoring state and going forward is the best you can hope for).
