Site was down much of last night, what happened?

Linux VM hung badly and Licho had to restart the whole server after the (much delayed) sms arrived.

Licho should consider what effect this has on people's jobs and livelihood.

We should have a CAT-Sensor.. that is a cat on a pressure plate, watching a screen that holdsa virtual mouse running around. Once the cat stops moving for a very long time, we can be sure that the system has frozzen - or the cat is sleeping. Maybe not even that. But one has to admit i added a obscure sollution, to lower the BUZ-factor.

Wouldnt a second smaller machine, that checks from time to time if you still can logon, see the webpage (right into the rhasperies) and basically works as a Hardware-Watchdog be a good choice?

From Anarchids msg I suspect there is monitoring already, but the threshold for sending a SMS is set to high... or the simple problem that SMS are not reliable.

i've noticed this a few times too, it makes my anxiety worse as i suffer from 8 things off this list, life is hell atm
