Resigned commanders in team commander ends

How to handle this?
Team commander ends game mode means that when all commanders in one team* have died, then the team loses and all it's units are exploded.
There is currently a way to bypass this: if one players resigns with his commander alive, his commander is still counted as appurtenant to his team (however the player i counted as killed if he resigns), and therefore the team won't lose even if all other commaders are killed. Is this the expected behaviour? or should the commander be classified as a normal non-commanding unit once the player has resigned, so that it also explodes if all other team commanders are killed?
The problem is just that when a player resigns it leaves a non-controllable commander standing somewhere and which also has to be killed before the whole team is considered killed. Or should all your units just explode when you resign?
