So it currently has a kickstarter running. This is an old school 3d dungeon crawler with modern elements.

Dunno if it is up any of your alleys but it is pretty awesome if you are fan of the genre!

I'm always sad to see nice graphics wasted on antiquated turn-by-turn combats.

Too many good artists way too little good game designers today.

Doing a dungeon crawler game is doing a game genre it is not bad design it is a design decision. If you didn't like them and need some twitch game go play POE or skyrim. I won't get sucked into a debate about it with you regret.

Just let it happen, you know you can't resist. :regret:

Any design decision can be bad or good. Dungeon crawlers don't need to be turned based or twitch based, there's a middle road.

Yeah... came across this one the other day (the FTL people were pimping it because they are using the same composer).

Because it's a sci-fi corridor crawler it reminds me of Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday or the classic Phantasy Star games.

As a modern take on the genre it's pretty impressive but it is certainly a very narrow niche existing market these days... but the genre has a lot of potential if done right.

No doubt, the whole kickstarter thing allowing narrow niche games like this to happen is awesome!

I guess I am just jealous:
Games that I despise, such as Starcrawler, get loads of publicity and money, while the games that I would really have liked to play, such as Wayward Terran Frontier or Hive Jump, are failing in silence.

Seem like KS isn't so much about letting indies make niche games, but more about being good enough at PR and networking to reach the snowballing threshold.

Why do you DESPISE IT? They are not pulling the whole HYPE GAME that PA did. They are not doing some crap DRM like EA does. They are not doing a kickstarter for a F2P game. They are not raising money to eradicate excess children in subsaharan africa

So what is the issue? The genre? That is hardly a reason to despise something. They don't affect you, so why waste the energy?
