Will post a link soon, opinions welcome, good and bad, I can`t decide on the atmospheric colors, long story short I just got my new pc up and running and since my new graphics card supports all the good stuff like shadows

I wanted to do at least one map with a lot of .smd derived visual goodies.
Map is 24 x 24 with ten start positions and fairly low metal and visible metal patches.
Screens below.

Looks nice..
But to give your map that extra bit of quality, add features!

You need a skybox or a different sky, the terrain and the sky dont quite fit....

Hmmm, It does look odd, will have a look through my collection of cubemaps I have a cloudy night sky may suite this terrain a little better.

I think it's the red sky contrasting with the green terrain. The 2 are opposite colours and it shows.

Personally I think it's a neat contrast between the red sky and greenish-darkish-brownish ground. I mean, that's what the sky looks like at the evening, which is obviously what this map is trying to emulate. I'd certainly play it, as long as YOU DON'T PUT IN QUEER/INSANE AMOUNTS OF METAL.

Apart from trees there won`t be ANY features on this map.
Going to leave the sky as is but will remove some of the red from the texture, the ground texture needs to have some red as this would happen in nature a rich red sky will lend a faint hue to the terrain, I did try some other colours but the surreal sunset is at the centre of what Im trying to do.
Can anyone remember the .smd tag for reflective unit textures, I cant find SJ`s post about it.
I sampled the colours from a real sunset.

One of the nicer looking maps I've seen in a while. Not sure what I feel about the somewhat overdone 4 sides design, but at least you know it plays well like all the other 4 sides style maps
